Visiting the Family~ [NR][Alec Kane, or Invite]

Amaranth had gotten bored to say the least on her own little island city. It hadn't been busy due to the cold weather, and wasn't going to get busy at least for the next week or so; which meant there wasn't much she had to be sitting around and doing; if anything at all, really. Down time during the /vacation/ season was always such a drag. So, all in all, it was time for a road trip. She'd been in and around Sugure no Shima for a good while now, and it was time to go back and visit some family.

She had shot off of the island like a bullet from a gun, moving across the sky and headed straight towards Darkman Tower, her form barely even a blur with the speed at which she was moving. She was like a little red spec, given the red hooded duster she was wearing, as she moved across the sky.

In almost no time at all her goal was in sight and a giggle of glee escaped her as she approached...

Alec was sitting on the 1,000th floor. It was where his office was located, formerly his father's office, now his. While looking out of the large windows to admire the Edge City skyline, he was still frustrated with the way Darkman withdrew from society and left everything in his hands. It wasn't like there was alot to do, and most kids who inherited the family business didn't complain; Alec just wanted a fair warning. Darkman's decision was a sudden overnight thing.

He'd now be primarily responsible for running this entire city. After years a war with siths, this wasn't exactly the reward he was expecting. Everyone was scattered now as well. He had no idea where Jr or Serenity was, nor Dez; his children. He didn't even know where Ness was, but Alec was sure they were alright. Sometime sooner or later he'd have to contact them and inform them of the new situation.

A familiar life reading was heading in the direction of the tower. It was VERY familiar so there was no need to activate security. The life reading belonged to that of Amaranth, his grand daughter. With a grin he turned forward and settled back into the large leather chair behind the desk of the spacious, well furnished office, waiting for the child to make her way into the building to him. Since she had the same blood as he, he knew the security systems would be deactivated and the doors would unlock themselves for her, also knowing she'd know her way through the building and to where he was. Perhaps she'd know where Destiny was as well.

Releasing the hold she'd been keeping on her senses she reached out; searching for the familiar life force of her grandfather. He was easy enough to find; on the 1,000th floor. Well, that left Amaranth with two choices; head to the ground and endure the elevator ride up, or land on the roof and only have to worry about going down a floor. The roof got chosen over the other method of entry.

She landed softly, the winds pushing her red duster and hair around and knocking her hood back and off of her head. As she headed to the stairway door she reached into her pocket, searching around for a moment, before pulling out a lollipop which was green in color. Just like her mother she had a taste for sugary sweets; except unlike Destiny who would guzzle down pixie sticks like they were going to run way, Amaranth preferred lollipops or other hard candies.

She pushed past the door easily enough, descended to the 1,000th floor and then wandered about, easily finding her way as she followed her grandfather's life-force to his office. She paused outside the door for but a second, figuring her grandfather more than knew she was here, and then pushed her way inside, glancing about for a moment before her silver colored gaze fell on her grandfather and she smiled; lollipop shoved into her right cheek for the moment. "Hi!"

Alec had been pretending to be busy with some minor paperwork on his desk, which wasn't anything really besides some boring, unimportant briefs concerning city matters. When his Grand daughter entered the office is when he pushed the papers aside

"Ah, Amaranth," Alec said with a grin. He was always happy to see his kids and family, and would make time for them no matter what he was doing. Bad things happened in that war. Alec had kids on the other side of the battlefield; kids that grew up hating him, but eventually began to see him for the hero that everyone else thought he was, but by then it was too late. Those kids disappeared, and he would often wonder about the condition of both of them. They may have been born to one of his enemies, but there wasn't a day that went by that he didn't think about them.

So the family he had left, he plan to spoil and put up on pedestals. "Good to see you, baby girl. What brings you around your old boring grandpa today?"

Amaranth giggled and rolled her eyes before skipping her way across the office, behind the desk, and then hugging her grandfather before responding. "You're not old, or boring, grandad." She giggled again.

"Mom is doing this deep sea exploring thing to figure out where she wants to put this underground portion of Sugure no Shima - apparently she feels I need some place safe to go hide if something bad happens and she plans on making it. But, I got bored being under the water with her; it's rather hard to hold a conversation when I don't speak fish, and she's boring when distracted like that anyway." She grinned. "And, vacation time doesn't start for another week, so the islands all quiet and boring. So I figured I'd come visit! Whatcha doing?" She tilted her head in her curiosity.

Heh. Alec was old, ancient even, that was for sure, but he didn't look it. He looked to be about 20 years old, but yet had grand kids, and who knows how many 'children' those siths produced with the name Kane before they were all wiped out. The whole thing had to seem strange to someone ordinary.

Alec returned the hug that his grand daughter gave him, listening to her explanation. "Not a whole lot," he responded to her question. "Your great grandfather left me in charge of everything, so it looks like i'll have to step up. I was thinking about how I want to go about things... but don't let me bore you with city stuff. Your mom is underwater huh, I was wondering where she was. I'm probably going to need her back here soon to help me run things, but that's nice that she's helping you out with that island of yours. I'll have to come visit when I get more time..."

Alec rubbed his chin at the thought of Destiny building Amaranth a panic room under the ocean. He didn't really see the point - the kid was part of Ghost, and even Alec thought he'd have trouble in a serious battle against him, which would never happen since Ghost was practically his son now. Amaranth was a combination of Destiny and Ghost, why would she have to go hide? She was more dangerous than both of them. Alec would have to ask his daughter about her paranoia when he saw her next...

Amaranth grinned again and nodded at her grandfather's words. "Good good! That'll give her a reason not to be haunting around me." Amaranth giggled softly and then, using her tongue, moved the lollipop to the other side of her mouth as she glanced about the office. "Ever since I accidentally turned a few people into... some sort of weird werewolf thing... she's been like.. hovering."

"I think she's afraid I'll blow myself up or something, and I keep reminding her that that's impossible, but she doesn't seem to want to listen. Demi was picking on her for it the other day, calling it her motherly instinct.. and then mom punched Demi through wall.. and you know what that crazy Malkavian did? She laughed. Mom hits like a truck, but she laughed and then told her she was losing her touch because she barely felt that." Amaranth shook her head.

"Maybe I'll get some more stuff finished with her busy here. But yeah, you should come visit.. it's all peaceful and stuff there, and it's warming up nicely. I like the beach..."

Alec's office was spacious. The carpet was blue and the walls white, there were several comfortable leather couches and tables before them. One of the tables had a flat screen television and several video game systems next to it, and cluttered all around were video game cases. Another side of the office had several knives and guns in display cases.

"So your mother still has that crazy temper," Alec said, thinking back to many occasions when his daughter flipped her lid. "And Demi is still a damn nutcase." That Malkavian was about as bad as Maximillion, or Maxi, a good friend from the wars and someone Destiny looked up to. Alec wondered where he was as well. "I'll say something to your mom about how she's being over-protective, but you'll have to tell me how you turned people into werewolves. Never heard of any Kane being able to do something like that, is that something from your father's side?"

Amaranth returned her silvery gaze to her grandfather and nodded. "At least she didn't blow Demi up; but I guess that's because Demi is her best friend." She thought about his question and tilted her head a bit, thinking back to how exactly she had caused that little problem back on her little island.

"Actually, it was an experiment gone wrong. Mom gave me that Toy Box place she used to have, so I turned the place into a giant factory. So, I was messing around with some stuff and despite the sign being on for people not to enter... well, one of the humans who were hired on to keep the place clean opened the door... and well, things got fuzzy, in the literal sense, after that."

She frowned slightly. "It was odd though, because I mean... I've met a few werewolves, and they're kill happy and all when they get to the point to where they can't control themselves. But, this guy was just... gone. He was acting stupid too. Almost like... well, like the werewolf version of a zombie I guess would be the best way to describe it. Just chaotic, unintelligent." She shrugged. "It spread to a couple more before I had the chance to cure it, and mom just happened to see it all happen..."

"But, now that I think about it... I dunno if I could just naturally do something like that. I mean... I guess anything might be possible if I put my head to it."

Alec relaxed in his father's old chair, grinning while listening to his grand daughter speak. It surprised him how smart she was for her young age and how grown she acted. Alec was sure that she'd far surpassed him in terms of intelligence, and was confident that she could take care of herself in the face of trouble.

"I wouldn't think so either. Your father is like, a Ghost right? And he can transform into anything. All those years in INC and I never saw him turn into a wolf. Speaking of your father i'll have to let him know what's going on too, maybe he'll finally quit wandering and come stay here like I keep telling him."

Another giggle escaped her and she nodded. "Maybe. It'd be nice if he stayed in one place for a bit. I'm always in one place.. well, two. My island, or here, so I'm never hard to find." She suddenly cocked her head to the side, blinking. A familiar life-force was beginning to creep into her senses and quickly, another one she'd known all of her life; her mother.

"Haha! Mom's coming.", she said suddenly before taking a seat nearby and getting comfortable. She had no intentions of returning back to Sugure no Shima at the moment; if anything happened while she was gone the people she'd left in charge knew how to contact her, so there really was nothing for her to worry about.

Destiny had finished what Amaranth thought, or at least she hope she thought, was a sort of panic room for her; it was in fact a surprise of sorts, but she hadn't let her daughter in on that little secret. Therefore, she had bolted from the little island as soon as she had finished; running her way under the ocean of all places until she had reached the land; and then continuing on from there. All in all the wind that had constantly been surrounding her as she moved had dried her hair, skin, and clothing rather easily.

Speaking of clothing; she was dressed for the moment in a white and gray stripped tank top with a best like shirt, black in color, over top. Jeans covered her legs, and black combat boots her feet. A gold halo hovered above her her head. As she reached Darkman Tower and her senses informed her of where both her father and her daughter were she pulled a 'fuck gravity' move and ran up the side of the building. She headed straight up to the roof and once then entered in the same fashion that Amaranth had, wandering down the hallways and such that led to the office; which she entered seconds later.

She was windswept looking but otherwise had a giant grin on her face. "I figured this was where you wandered off to.", she said to Amaranth before turning her gaze to her father. "Hey, dad!"

Alec picked up on the familiar feeling of Destiny's life force as soon as she'd entered the vicinity of Edge. None of the security protocols would react to her the same as Amaranth. "Well isn't this looking like a little family reunion," Alec said to Amaranth while Destiny ran up the side of the building. "All we'd need now is that lazy uncle or that aunt of yours that I barely see anymore."

Destiny eventually entered the office, and Alec took a second to look over his daughter. "Dez. Good to see you," Alec said with a grin. "You seem to be right on time too. Your grandfather decided to walk off like he sometimes does and leave everything up to me to maintain, so i'll need you around Edge more as my Underboss. Got a feeling things might be getting lively again. Not Sith lively but.... lively." Alec pressed a button on his desk next to the computer. A compartment in the floor near Destiny opened and a comfortable looking chair rose from it soon after. Alec then picked up his Grand daughter and sat her upon the desk before him.

Amaranth grinned when she was picked up and put on the desk. She tilted her head, looking to her mother. "I didn't 'wander off'. I just... don't speak fish. I speak a lot of things, but not fish. So holding a conversation under water doesn't work and I don't like using my telepathy because I pick up on everyone's thoughts... and some people have some really nasty thoughts - or evil ones.. and then this weird urge happens and I feel like killing them."

Killing them of course was an understatement; depending on the evil deed she happened to pick up, or how much evil, she tended to get the urge to torture them before completely and utterly destroying them; not something she liked thinking about unless it was completely necessary.

Dez looked to the comfortable chair that sprang up and sprawled in it comfortably. An eyebrow rose as she looked to her father. "Oh?" Her head tilted slightly, a few strands of long red hair falling in her face before she blew them away softly. "Alright, I can do that... I should probably drag Demi here, too. She needs something to keep her occupied so she'll stop trying to cause trouble... heard she's been harassing some chick in a place near Amaranth's... painting rainbows all over her white city and such to try and make her react."

Dez shook her head for a moment and then turned her gaze to Amaranth and chuckled. "It's not like I could say anything to you for it... I used to sit on the front porch and blow random things up just with my mind... got a few people like that. In fact, I used to have this teddy bear, and... I can't remember who it was... but someone tried taking him. I blew him into a million pieces."

Alec had only seen Demi several times in the old days, but the girl was just the same a daughter to him as Destiny was. She was a little nuts from what he could remember, but if things were going to get like he thought they were, that's exactly what he'd need.

Listening to Destiny speak he could remember when she was a little girl, and how she used to make things explode. He grinned some, but then felt kind of bad that she had to endure all of that blood and murder at only 4 years old. Alec could only wish the same fate didn't befall Amaranth. The murdering legacy of the Kanes didn't have to pass on to her generation as well...

"Yeah, I remember those bears... and what's this i'm hearing about you building some underwater panic room?" Alec asked Destiny. "You're not about to be on this motherly paranoia thing, sending her out dressed up in crash helmets and life jackets every time she leaves the house are you? Have you forgotten how her father is? That dude scares even ME sometimes, and i'm a bad motha fucka." He chuckled some after that, then pointed at Amaranth. "Don't you repeat that."

She stared at her mother for a few minutes. Did she really just admit to blowing people up with stuffed animals?! Even though that probably shouldn't have surprised her it did; her mother had played with dangerous things when she was super little... and yet she kept telling her to be careful and not blow herself up when she was messing around with her scythe. "You blew people up with toys?! Yet you keep telling me not to shoot my eye out with my weapon? Baw."

She then listened to her grandfather and giggled. "I won't... till I'm older." She nodded some. "Then I'll probably say it when I'm hanging out with my friends and think neither of you can hear it." She nodded a bit more, smiling honestly before giggling.

Destiny laughed suddenly. "Oh, she told you about that? Nah, that's just what I told her so she didn't come snooping about till I was finished. Nah, it's just a little surprise since she seems to like those colorful fish so much. I made a little room with reinforced glass around it so she can sit down there under the ocean without having to worry about getting wet and read or whatever, added a bit of a lab down there for her so she can do her experiments without worrying about being disturbed."

Her gaze then flickered back to Amaranth. "Well... at least you're being honest about it." She then turned her attention back to her father. "So, what all are you expecting then to come up soon?", she asked curiously as she stretched out and got more comfortable.

Alec pushed a button on the desk in front of him. What looked like the screens of many television sets began to appear around them in mid air, all of them linked to cameras all over Edge City. They were everywhere, from parking garages to traffic lights, inside of buildings and even in people's houses. Alec could even zoom into which ever camera he chose to look at things in more detail. The cameras were all in the least likely of places, in locations right under the nose but no one would ever think to look.

"...I'm not really expecting anything," Alec said, using a touchpad build into his desk to move through the many thousands of cameras that all showed clear broadcast pictures. "...But since your grandfather decided to just walk off suddenly, some clown or 2 out there may think of making a play, so it doesn't hurt to have my bases covered. Ghost would be a real nasty edition to have around here as a secret weapon like thing similar to INC, yeah? Have you seen him, is he around?"

Amaranth looked to all of the screens for a moment, head tilting as she did so. After a moment of blinking she reached into her duster's pocket and pulled out a small hand held game system which she flipped on. "That's a lot of TV's...", she commented before her gaze became glued to the small little screen in front of her.

The game was simply enough; a zombie one. Her tongue slipped out between her lips from the corner of her mouth and her brow furrowed as she began to play, her full concentration on the game in her hands for the moment.

Dez's attention turned from her father to the screens and an eyebrow rose in curiosity. That was a lot of people to be watching all at once; but it wasn't a surprise. Her gaze then flickered to Amaranth as she began to play her game, chuckling softly. Then her gaze flickered back to her father and she shrugged lightly.

"I haven't seen him around recently; but he wanders about a lot. Then again, I have spent nearly every hour of every day under the ocean building that special area for Amaranth." She glanced back to Amaranth; figuring to ask her, but decided against it as the girl seemed so absorbed into her game that a bomb could probably go off next to her and she wouldn't even notice it - or pay much attention to it at all for that matter. "Of course, I've always been able to summon him when I've needed him. I could always give it a try if needed."

"Reminds me," said Alec while still moving through many screens, looking at the streets, the traffic, the people out walking. He came to one screen where people were being attacked by Zombies. Perhaps Destiny or Amaranth would think it was a movie or something... "A new technique dad made before he walked off. It lets the 2 of you summon me, sort of like that thing you got going with Ghost. I can also bring myself to you if I want. Just in case..."

Alec grumbled while thinking of Demi again. "...While I don't really have a problem with Demi and how she is, I'mma need you to keep her in check, cause she's wild and starts shit. And if I put her over my knee again I know she's just gonna get off to that. We don't need any more incidents like that time at INC headquarters..." What a mess, what a mess. Xan never let that end, he must have bitched about that madness for years...

Amaranth's attention sudden shifted up to the screens and off of the game in her hands. She blinked for a moment at the zombies and then looked back to her grandfather, and then back to the screen again. She tilted her head slightly; staring. She couldn't quite figure why her grandfather would have a show on about zombies when he had that large TV across the room.

A giggle suddenly escaped her before she looked back to her game, however she lifted her right hand and pointed to the zombies on the screen. "I didn't do that.", she said before lowering her hand and going back to playing her hand-held zombie game. "I should create a monster of some kind to summon to fight for me...", she said suddenly, her eyes lighting up with inspiration and a slow grin spreading across her face.

"So how does that summon thing work? If I get into trouble I just gotta say 'Grandad!' and you appear?", she asked curiously.

Dez's gaze flickered back up to the screen when Amaranth pointed and she chuckled before looking back to her father. "Oh? Sounds handy.. I'll have to remember that." She then thought for a moment about her best friend and shook her head slightly.

"As far as Demi goes; she's been better than she used to be. More in control of herself the majority of the time. So long as she has something to keep her busy she'll be fine. It's when she's bored that she starts causing problems." A small smirk formed on her face before she continued. "As far as who Demi's screwing with now? Well, from what Demi told me - since I won't go over there myself - the woman who runs the place seems really strict; has all of these rules and stuff. Like... no weapons or anything illegal. No drugs. So, I guess Demi feels it's her duty to cause trouble for the sake of there needing to be some chaos over there."

Dez shrugged lightly. "But, Demi isn't the sort to cause trouble and then come running back for help; she's more then willing to face the consequences of her actions if she does end up starting something over there... " Dez didn't add on that she'd be right there next to her best friend if something happened - even if it was Demi's fault in the first place - she didn't feel it needed said, that's what best friends did for each other. Demi had always had Dez's back and Dez had always had hers; it'd been like almost since the first day they met.

Alec nodded his head to Amaranth. "Something like that," he responded. "Mostly all you have to do is think of me." He changed the screen with the zombies on it, thinking he'd have to send someone to deal with that, frowning somewhat... What the hell was going on over in the factory district? This didn't seem good at all...

A city with strict laws? No weed? No GUNS?? A place Alec definitely wasn't going. Why Demi was there, he'd never know. "As long as she keeps it together while she's here is all good with me," Alec said to Destiny. "Well, that's pretty much all I wanted to tell you, the both of you can come and go as you want, you know that, just stay close in case I need you for something Dez. I'll try not to be a bore if I need to call a meeting in the future...."

Alec pushed another button and caused a keyboard to be produced from within a hidden compartment on his desk. Another screen appeared hovering above the desk that was connected to the internet. He typed on the keyboard several minutes and looked through several screens, but mostly looked off into space as if thinking about something. There would be alot to do now that he was the city's head man...
