Grandad, I Have an Idea! [Alec, or Invite][NR]

Amaranth landed less than a minute later on the roof of Darkman Tower. She took a glance around with her silvery gaze before removing the hood of her cape and walking over to the stairwell that would lead her downstairs. As she walked towards her grandfather's office she thought of all of the things she had to discuss with him: what she had done for Himitsu, the fact that the female was now fourteen as well as working for her and staying in her lab. Most importantly, at least in her eyes, was the fact that she wanted to move her island, the whole thing, weather included, to the shores of Edge City.

Moments later she found herself standing in front of her grandfather's office doors. She raised her right hand and knocked softly before opening the door and stepping inside. She glanced around, wondering if her grandfather was still in here: every other time she had shown up he had been positioned right behind his desk...

"Grandad?"

Alec had a screen up that detailed footage from an attempted convenience store hold up. A dark dressed figure wearing a gas mask that had two large eye portions that were glowing green enters the store and expertly disarms all of the muggers with a sword, without cutting any of them. In an impressive display of hand to hand techniques he incapacitates all 3 of the would be stick-up artists, pays for a bag of chips, then leaves. The police arrive moments later to arrest the suspects....

The door to the office opens and in walks the grand daughter Amaranth. Alec flicks ashes to the "cigar" he was currently smoking, leaving the screen up for her to see it if she chose.

"Grand baby. Looking as beautiful as ever, just like your mother. That black hair really brings out your eyes, you get those from ya grand daddy. What's going on?"

She giggled at the compliment and wandered over to his desk and then behind it as she normally did, hugging him. "Well, I've been really busy. But I found a replacement for Flynn now that he's dead. You know that Himitsu lady? Well, she's not a lady anymore - she was all tired of being sad and upset, so she's fourteen again: Uncle Junior reversed her back to her younger self... and then I helped her further so she's not human like she used to be, well not completely... So now no one can recognize her anymore. I also made her one of my people."

"But, that's not what I came here to talk about, well, not the main reason. I've been thinking about moving my island... All these bad things keep happening and it's so far away... So, I was thinking about moving it out there." She pointed out the window, out towards the water, right off shore of Edge City: where she'd be close enough in the chance that anything else bad happened.

"...Yeah, actually I wouldn't mind at all if you were to move your island there. A good idea actually, it should increase tourism both here and there. Just be aware that I have a gang problem as of late, and you may encounter several Goons, but they're just idiots who scare off easily..."

Alec looked over to his right, in the direction of the Edge river that emptied out into the North Atlantic. To be able to see the island from his office would make him feel more comfortable. That was no problem, but what Amaranth had been doing out there was... or could turn into one.

"Now as far as you getting Jr to turn that woman back into a child, and you messing around with her DNA to make her part Angel, i'm fully aware of that. I know you have her best intentions in mind, that's why i'll let it slide this time. But don't make it a habit of messing around with other people like that. Animals are one thing, but people... Something just seems wrong about re-arranging someone else's insides."

Amaranth gave a nod, her face becoming serious for a moment. "Okay grandad, I won't do it again unless it's one hundred percent necessary... it felt kind of wrong anyway, even though it was for a very good reason." She looked back out the window, staring off at the spot she wanted her island to rest; it would be nice to see Edge City in the background of her island, and to be able to come and go without having to fly halfway across the world.

"Grandad, is Niala around? I wanted to ask her a favor.. in helping me move the island. She can do it all in one shot... it would save me from having to rebuild everything on it." Or that was the idea at least; if Niala could imagine her island from where it was to where it was going to be, then that would save an awful lot of trouble on her part...

There was also one last matter she needed to handle. "I also have to figure out a new name for my island... Sugure no Shima was fine when I had it off the shores of Japan.. but now it's going to need a new name... I just dunno what to call it."

Alec flicked ashes in the tray before taking another long drag. With something like that so close by it was sure to draw vast numbers of people. That also meant an increase in crime. Perhaps this could mean that the rise in vigilantes would increase as well? The whole thing made him grin some.

"Niala is on vacation. The girl's done so much that I think it'd be wrong to be asking anything of her, personally. But if you wanna give it a try, she should be somewhere around the tower. If not, there's this coffee shop she likes to go to, or she could be just out somewhere wandering around..."

Amaranth tilted her head and then shook her head. "If she's still on vacation I don't want to bother her... I suppose I could try and do what mom did to make it in the first place." She nodded then, figuring that that was exactly what she was going to do. She was going to lift the whole thing up, telekentically, and as fast as thought itself, bring it to Edge. She grinned suddenly and hugged her grandfather once more.

She then moved over to the window and closed her eyes, concentrating... She focused on her island, which she could feel as if it were a living thing; the first thing she did was send a telepathic message to each and every person, since not all of the tourists had returned, that she was moving the island and that they had nothing to fear - given that most if not all of the people currently on the island were non-human beings, she didn't have to risk scaring anyone.

Her brow furrowed as she concentrated: figuring that now was as good a time as any. With enough focus on her island she began to telekinetically lift it up, bringing every last part of the island, including its people and buildings, safely up out of the water, all without even stirring a single piece of sand wrong, or causing any sort of ripples in the water.

She then, as fast as thought, brought her island floating across the planet, keeping it over the oceans as to not cause any sort of fear or hysteria by bringing it over the land. The whole process would take about an entire minute, as she didn't want to bring it too fast and risk causing harm, or damage to the island or its people... And then she gently placed it back down in the ocean, right off the coast of Edge City. All without having harmed a single hair on anyone's head or property.

With the whole process complete she opened her eyes and swayed slightly on her feet, feeling light headed from the massive amount of power she had just used. "Whoa.. head feels funny.", she said, giggling as her own natural healing instantly righted her equilibrium, making the dizzy feeling disappear after several seconds.

She then turned and stared at her grandfather, grinning. "All done!"

Angelic Physiology:

The process of carrying a whole island and everyone on it had to be a taxing one, but the grandchild didn't seem to have any difficulties. A nearby tropical island would calm alot of anger. Someone was going to do something stupid and get killed, but sometimes it just had to happen that way. Amaranth's island was a welcome edition to Edge City's skyline, and Alec was positive that the appearance of the resort getaway would bring in alot more money.

"Good going. Just remember, there's alot of crime around here, as you probably already know. It could spread over into your area. I should also warn you that there's this rumor of some sorta... sea monster out there in the river. I know you like catching things and sticking your knives into them, so maybe now you could get to the bottom of that mystery, see if there's any truth to the stories."

Amaranth nodded several times over again. "I'm sure there's enough cameras around to keep an eye on things... and it'll give me things to have my people go do... some of them were getting a bit lazy after a while. So, maybe that'll be a good way to get them back active again."

A grin swept across her face. "A sea monster?! That's... awesome... If it's out there I'll be the one to catch it!" She giggled, eyes twinkling in anticipation. She had all manner of creatures back in her lab, some that she had created herself from scratch, but she had never had the chance to see a sea monster before.

"Also, I think I'm going to rename my island Sunset Island, because all of the colors on it remind me of a sunset from here." She looked out to her island again, staring at it. It did indeed, from her grandfather's office, look like a sunset due to its wash of colors. "Now I can visit more and not have to worry about something going wrong on my island while I'm away, since it's right there." She giggled again.

Okay, that wasn't something you saw every day... Niala had looked over out of her living room window of her suite just in time to see an island come floating across the ocean and land in the waters; right by the shores of Edge City. She had blinked a few times as she wondered who could possibly possess such power to move an entire island... but then her curiosity as to what was going on trumped that and she turned.

She grabbed her keys off of the nearby table they'd been placed on, and walked out of her suite, heading up the floor that divided her suite and Alec's office. If anyone knew what was going on it was going to be him: and she hoped it wasn't trouble. She had been enjoying her vacation, but would come off of it if something was happening or if she was needed for something. She was more than willing to be useful.

As she took the elevator up she took a sip out of the cup of frozen hot chocolate in her grasp, which she had been drinking from as she looked out of her window when the island showed up. She exited the elevator and walked down the hallway. She paused long enough outside of Alec's office doors to rap her knuckles on it a few times before she opened the door and stepped inside, closing the door behind herself.

Her red gaze fell on Alec, and then Amaranth, as she took note that they were the only two in the office. "I noticed the island appear, wondered what was going on,..", she said before taking another sip through her color changing straw of her frozen chocolatey drink. In the back of her mind she wondered why no one had shown up: an island appearing out of basically nowhere was a pretty serious matter, right? Or did people pay so little attention to what was going on that they didn't notice when something big like that happened?

He'd have to take a trip over there to see this sea monster if she ever caught it. Alec saw plenty of pictures and images of her lab and underwater domain on his screens, but he hadn't set foot in there himself yet. Now that he could see her island from where he sat in his office, assuming that Amaranth wasn't going to move the island anywhere else, this was going to change. Sunset Island was the perfect name, because of the way the sun set on a cloudless day.

Niala walked in next. Alec had been doing some thinking lately. Someone with Niala's talents had to be close by at all times. He'd been wondering about who to take on as a Consultant until Sunny returned one day, and Niala seemed perfect for the role. Some evil underground corporation getting their hands on someone like her could turn out very bad, so Alec decided to keep her within arm's reach at all times.

"Amaranth decided to move the island closer here, since Himitsu had herself transformed and became an island resident. After all of this craziness and death she wanted to be closer. It's a good thing you showed up because I wanted to talk to you. I'm in need of a Consultant. I figure the wife Sunny will come back from space one day; it was a position I was saving for her. There's no telling when this might be and right now you would be perfect for the job. For the most part, what I need you to do is stay here in the office with me, look at the cameras every so often, look after the city. I may have a personal errand or a job I may need you to do from time to time, but the main part of being a Consultant is staying close to the Boss. I can have a desk put into the office for you, or you can just imagine yourself one. Interested in the Job?"

Amaranth glanced over as she heard the door open, her silvery gaze taking in Niala's appearance as she entered into her grandad's office. She smiled and waved to her friend before turning to look back out the office windows. She stared long and hard at her island, glad that she had moved it as close as she had: it felt safer, and easier to access than it had been. Plus, now she could come and visit without having to worry because she couldn't see what was going on at all times.

She kept herself silent as her grandfather spoke to Niala, thinking over her own Consultant rank she had just filled with her Uncle Junior; he had kept her calm and kept her from destroying the island, he had been doing what she had asked him to do in keeping Haikyo safe: he had more than deserved it. Just like she was sure Niala had deserved the offer she was just given: she had done so many things from what Amaranth had heard, it was no surprise she had got it.

Niala returned Amaranth's friendly wave and then turned her red gaze to Alec as he began to speak to her. So Amaranth had moved her island closer? Smart idea, especially with all of the crap and garbage that had been going on recently. Definitely smart. And Himitsu had been transformed and was now a citizen of Amaranth's island? Who was in charge of Shinkai then? Or was it going to be lawless until someone took over? Many questions flew through her mind, but she kept her mouth shut on those; at least for now. Especially because Alec was offering her yet another position.

A Consultant. And all she would have to do is sit in his office with him, keep an eye on the cameras and help look after the city unless Alec had a personal job or task for her to do? That didn't sound hard, at all. And she got her own desk? Sweet!

A grin swept across her face and she nodded. "Okay, I'll take the job." She looked around his office and then at him, tapping her chin. "I can make a desk appear.. but where would you want me to put it?" She had the perfect desk in mind, something she had seen in a magazine, the same sort of desk that she had made appear in her suite a few days prior.

"Somewhere nearby mine, preferably. You may want to make your desk and computer somewhat like mine, where no one can use it but you. I'm sure you'll be able to get all of the wires in their right places and make sure your computers can access everything mine can. I'm giving you access to basically anyone and anywhere in Edge City, so obviously this means i'm placing a lot of trust in you. I don't let people get this close to me anymore because i've been betrayed many times. We have to be just as close as family if this is going to work. I'm willing to go there if you are, and i'll make it so you never want for anything... Though, you can just make things appear if you want it, so I don't think you would either way, but, you get what i'm saying..."

A long drag of the "cigar." Yeah, having somebody like her close by would be great. The Grand daughter's island was right there where he could see it, so if something went wrong he could act asap. The Company hiring was going to begin soon. Alec couldn't wait to see how that turned out. Was Maxi going to do the job he was given? Alec still wondered what was up with the guy. There were kids and a Ninja version of himself out there in the streets doing jobs, but Maxi... he'd been off the radar for the most part. Was he going to do any jobs? Did he even know his boy Xan was back on the scene after all those years of being missing? Did he care? Alec was under the impression that he and Xan were once close. The coming month would tell the tale....

Amaranth looked back to her grandfather and Niala. She went over and gave her grandfather a quick hug. "I'll be back in a little while.. I'm going to go check and make sure everything's alright with Himitsu... Don't want her freaking out or anything because there's too many changes going on around her at one time."

With that said she turned, waving again to Niala as she walked out of her grandfather's office. She walked up to the roof as she normally did, and then flew off, heading back towards Sunset Island...

Niala gave one last wave to Amaranth as she listened to Alec say he would prefer her desk near his. That wasn't a problem at all. She thought about what he said about making her desk like his: it reminded her rather easily of the desk she had downstairs; the whole thing was touch screen, even the desk itself. The only part of the desk that even stuck out was the monitor, and even that was touch screen to a degree.

"Don't worry, I won't let you down... but I'll prove it more than my words can. Actions speak louder after all. And it would be nice to be close to someone like a family would be.", she said softly. She had no reason to betray Alec, at all. Would never even dream of such a thing, but words could only say so much, actions spoke a lot louder. He had done more than enough for her, far more than anyone else had before, she was going to make sure she helped him in any way possible.

She turned her gaze off to the side of Alec's desk, and then concentrated long and hard on the picture that was in her mind. After a moment she closed her eyes, willing the picture in her imagination to life: a super high-tech desk that she would more than know how to use, complete with a chair... that would spin. Nothing beat a spinny chair right? The desk was black in color, covered with a high-tech glass top, and the chair was likewise black, so that it matched the desk.

She opened her eyes and giggled, before making the cup of frozen hot chocolate in her hand refill, and then took a sip from the straw as it changed to pink and glowed softly. "Anything else I need to know or do?", she asked curiously.

Alec hugged his grand daughter before she left, then exhaled lung fulls of smoke. He flicked ashes in the tray again, lowering the healing factor so that he could feel the buzz longer. Elbows rest on either of the rests on the recliner, relaxing into the leather while relishing in the fact that he now had a secretary of sorts. He looked over the desk she made with a nod.

"Well, I smoke a lot, it calms my nerves. Hope you don't mind the smoke. You're pretty much my voice, so if you see someone or something out of line, you're well within your right to speak up on it... But you ran yourself tired when it came to all of that Demi stuff, so mostly I want you up here. You can go out and see some action whenever you want, but i'd rather you were out of harm's way."

Niala nodded as she listened to all he had to say. The smoke wasn't going to bother her; in fact, she found herself rather enjoying the smell of it. She kept quiet as she listened to him speak of how if there was something she saw that she thought was out of line she was more than able to speak up on it: and she would make sure she did so.

She nodded again in agreement to running herself tired over all of the Demitria stuff: that had been the first time in her entire life she had ever used that much power; and she was still slightly shocked that she had been able to pull it off. But, she supposed that had something to do with her background - which reminded her of a favor she had been meaning to ask Amaranth, which would be even easier now that Amaranth's island was well within eye sight of Edge.

"The smoke won't bother me, I like the way it smells." She giggled softly. "And I'll keep that in mind if I see anything that I think is out of line.." She wandered over to her new desk, running her fingertips along the top of it: the whole thing was touch activated, and when she was done with it... well, only a few people would be able to operate it, like Alec and herself. "I don't mind sitting up here.. so long as I have my hot chocolate.", she said with a grin.

She seated herself in her new black spinning chair, and pressed several buttons on her desk... "Thanks, I really appreciate this position you've given me.", she did too, more so than words could probably describe.
