About That New Guy... [Alec, Niala, or Invite][NR]

It had been late by the time she had finished with the recruits last night, and after having to deal with a minor little issue of her best friend needing supplies to start working on a giant iron fan - something she claims came from her brain - she hadn't had a chance to do what she said she was going to for Remiel. He wanted to meet her father, and she was more than willing to set that up; there was something odd about the guy - he looked like an average person, but the fact that his presence wasn't there meant he was anything but.

She knocked softly and then entered into her father's office, glancing over to the new desk she knew to be Niala's before resting her gaze on her father's. "So, I showed the new recruits in, had Demi stand in for Maxi since I have no idea where he is... showed them where they were to sleep for the time being and stuff. One of the new guys wanted to have a chat with you, and from the vibe I was getting he doesn't want to do it in front of the other recruits. His name is Remiel. Strange guy... seems like he's there but not there... anyway, I told him I'd come check if you were busy or not."

She folded her arms across her chest, waiting for a reply as she glanced out the window, wondering if she would soon be seeing her friend gliding around on that fan she was making; she really hoped Demitria didn't break herself, or worse... She would have to ensure her best friend was looked after while she went through this odd change she was going through.

A screen was up. It was linked to a camera out in the Suburbs, pointing to a house on fire. A dark dressed guy does some funny hand movements while saying funny words and launches a large fireball that looks like a dragon's head into the sky. It creates a chain reaction that forms a thunderstorm and a downpour of rain. The dark dressed person does something with his hands again while saying something else, and what looks like wind begins shooting from his hands. What he does puts the fire out enough so that the rest can be extinguished by neighbors. The dark dressed guy, Spook, rescues a little girl before vanishing.

Remiel. Only he and Amaranth would know that name. He was brave to come in here like he was. Alec was expecting some sort of retaliation for what he did. He wanted to talk to the guy, see where his mind was, hear his words.

"Destiny... you should go find him and tell him to come up to my office. He's not like those others, I think I should just meet him now. Sensing some sorta bullshit on the horizon when it comes to this guy, just picking up bad vibes. We got some kid that showed up late... and where the fuck is Maxi? This was supposed to be his thing..."

Destiny gave a nod to her father and didn't waste any time in turning back around and walking back out the office... She walked down the hall and entered the elevator. She rode the thing down to the first floor, since that was where the recruits were staying: a quick message to Remiel later, and instructions of where to go, and she was finished with her task...

Which meant she could now join Maxi in handling the rest of the recruits.. She had some ideas for things the recruits could do to /prove/ themselves and what they were capable of, but she was going to see what the crazy Malkavian came up with first, lord knew they were supposed to think outside of the box after all.

Remiel got Destiny's message and didn't waste any time as he followed her instructions; elevator to the 1,000th floor, down the hall, and then to the Boss' office. Remiel followed the directions to the T, and knocked on the door he had been instructed to before he entered slowly into the office, peeking around the door at who all was inside before he stepped inside.

Remiel kept his distance and folded his hands in front of him as he looked to the Boss himself. "Hello, sir. My name is Remiel, I'm sure it sounds familiar. I'm not going to beat around the bush, I came here looking for a job after I was kicked out of Heaven for what I did to my charge. I don't regret it and God knew that so he gave me the boot. Now I find myself in need of employment so I thought I would ask here first."

She was seated in her black spiny chair, Indian style since she had changed out of her normal dress for some white slacks and a matching short-sleeve top. The white flats she'd been wearing on her feet were on the floor beneath her desk; since she didn't want to put her shoe covered feet on her new chair.

She had been bent over her desk, flicking through the many functions and still setting it all up, when she had noticed Destiny enter. She had listened to the female's words and then watched her leave after what Alec had said. Just to watch a male enter shortly afterwards. She figured, even before he opened his mouth, that this has to be the Remiel guy that Destiny had mentioned. She leaned back in her chair, resisting the urge to begin spinning again. She had spent the majority of her time, when not working on something, spinning.

She kept herself quiet as she lifted up her usual cup of frozen hot chocolate and took a long sip of it. She was curious as to what was going to happen now that Remiel had shown up, especially after what Alec had said.

Here he was... This was the guy who went into Demi's head and took out the memories of Flynn. He even went so far as to remove his DNA from the kids Nanalie and Riley. Yet, he looked like a normal everyday guy. Alec didn't bother waste time trying to get a reading from him, figuring right from the get go that it would probably be impossible.

Niala...This is the guy who did the memory thing on Demi and the DNA switch on the kids. If you can, see if you can get any sort of reading off of this guy, work your magic.

Telepathy:

Alec pushed a button on the desk to lock the office door. A "Do not disturb" sign flipped over on the other side of the door to show that he was an important business meeting. He pushed another button that caused a seat to rise out of the floor near Remiel, constructed of a memory foam alloy that conformed to the body of the person that sat in it, ensuring maximum comfort.

"So... Remiel. Here you are. The footprint that you have on your ass, I have the same one, so I can relate sort of... But, why come to me looking for work? Right into the hornet's nest? You have to know that some people had some hard feelings behind what you did. Some could be planning some sort of revenge eye-for-an-eye type thing. You have to be good in what you do to have done what you did, i'm pretty sure it's no problem for you to just... go off somewhere and disappear. Why come here? Why come to me?"

"Well sir, I still think of Demitria as my charge even if I did get striped of my title and a boot to the ass, so I would like to keep close to her if at all possible. I never plan on telling her who I am, if I can help it, because I don't want to risk causing her some sort of issue if she asks for me to explain why I'm suddenly here. The last thing I want is to see her injured over something like that. This is the best way I could come up with to be able to continue to keep an eye on her. I'm not expecting some high ranked position or title, just something good enough to keep me close enough to know what's going on with her. I also didn't plan on keeping myself a secret from you which is why I'm here now instead of downstairs with the other recruits. And I knew of the danger I might be in by coming here but I was willing to give it a shot so that I could make sure that Demitria was safe."

"Mmkay, lemme see what I can see...", she responded telepathically to Alec. A plan had already formed in her mind at Alec's suggestion: this was going to be easier said than done - at least unless this guy had some serious blockage going on. She picked the special pen up off of her desk - it wasn't a pen that would write on paper, and instead of made specifically for her desk since everything, even the paper work was all computerized.

Omnikinesis:

She twirled it through her fingers for a moment, almost like any other child would who was sitting in the middle of an office during a meeting. As she slipped every bit of the surface of the pen through her hands - a pen that no one else had touched since it had came from her imagination with her desk - she listened carefully to Remiel's response to Alec. It was an interesting one; the guy obviously didn't care about any sort of danger he might have been in by coming here, all he seemed to care about was Demitria. That was... honorable, in her opinion.

She laid her pen down on the desk in just the right way that it rolled across the desk and off of the other edge, dropping to the floor. It rolled a bit towards Remiel before it stopped nearby his foot. She blinked and looked under her desk as if she were looking for her pen. "Crap.. where'd it go?", she muttered.

Alec didn't want things to get messy, but from his words it sounded like he knew what he was in for. He said all he wanted to do was make sure Demi was alright. Well, she had Spook for that now, but a guy with a skillset like his would come in handy. He had intruded into Demi's life and mind, and altered her kids, but it was in the belief that she would be better off without someone that was barely there. Right now, things did look better off for Demi after so much tragedy, so Alec had no hard feelings toward Remiel. He'd been kicked out of heaven similar to himself, all those years ago.

"You're a cut above those guys downstairs with the things you can do, so I think i'm going to just hire you in right now...You don't have to go through what the others downstairs are gonna do. What I need you to do is to stay off the radar, like you have been. Do a job here and there. At least until this recruitment thing blows over, then we'll see what else is in store. Just, for now, try not to draw too much attention to yourself. You might be real good at hiding but... Someone somewhere might be up to something. If someone wants to find you bad enough, they usually will..."

Alec opened a drawer and pulled a necklace from within. There was a pendant attached to the necklace in the shape of the letter "C." Alec slid it across the desk toward Remiel.

Necklace:

"This entire city is under the effect of a phenomena created by my father called the "Dead Zone." Attempting to do certain things like teleport, manipulate reality, open gateways to other dimensions and cause widespread destruction are illegal, and will cause the Dead Zone to instantly vaporize you. Wearing that pendant will let you bypass those rules, but never try to teleport into or out of this building, even with the pendant."

"...Remember these things...Respect other cities. If attacked first, then by all means defend yourself, but don't go starting trouble... Don't abuse the power i've given you. Don't use this to kill innocent people. Don't try to use this on me... If you ever get it in your head to ever try to betray me... Good luck. Keep your head above water and avoid trouble, and you stay on my good side."

Alec leaned back within the leather confines of the recliner and lit a "Cigar." He slid a special key across the desktop next; a key that would take shape in the lock that it was inserted into, making it a unique key that only Remiel could use.

"Don't lose that... On the floor below are suites, if you don't have somewhere to stay already. The rooms that have green locks are rooms that are taken, red means they're available... If you have any questions, don't be shy. Ask me anything. Otherwise, this meeting is adjourned..."

Remiel bent down and picked the pen up before walking it over to the girls desk and placing it on the desk top. Remiel took the pendant from Alec Kane. "Thank you, I'll make sure that I keep my head down and do what needs to be done." Remiel also took the key. "I have no questions for you so I'll get out of your hair, thanks for the opportunity." Remiel walked out of Alec Kane's office.

/Exit/

Sometimes touching things that other people touched ended badly; especially for Niala. Sometimes it went so far as to cause her to have violent reactions - such as she had done when experiencing Demi's death the day she had predicted it. So, she waited until Remiel had walked out of Alec's office before she reached forward with her right hand to pick up her pen. Her hands were bare for once, instead of snuggle in the fingerless gloves she normally wore - with her desk being of her own creation and otherwise not touched there really was no point in keeping them on since the only memories she could usually see were her own.

She closed her fingers around the pen and jumped a mile at what she saw in her minds eye: War. Very old war. The armor dated it at least ten thousand years ago. Angels, Demons... and many other races. Blood and limbs flying everywhere. Pure unaltered violence. Good versus Evil. Angel versus Demon. It was the last time the clash had happened, and she was watching it through what she knew to be Remiel's eyes. Remiel was an Angel, and he had fought in this war. He was at least ten thousand years old.

The Sight:

Then the visions shifted slightly. The war had ended and Remiel was before what Niala could only describe as a ball of light in the form of a human figure, speaking to it. He was pleading to be allowed to remain on Earth, to be made into a guardian angel. The figure, who Niala figured was God, struck a deal...

Then the vision changed and split, something that didn't happen often: there were two paths in which Remiel's future could currently take. One was pleasent and easy.. the other, well the other was a violent death.

A shudder ran through her entire body as she forced her hand to open and the pen to drop down on her desk. All but ten or fifteen seconds had passed in real time, but she had seen a lifetime of memories in the duration. She took a deep slow breath, forcing the tension that had built up in her body to relax and then slowly she sunk back into the comforts of her spiny chair.

"That guy is old, and an Angel." She rubbed her face a bit before continuing. "I guess there was a war about ten thousand years ago between Angels and Demons from what I saw, and he fought in it as a warrior. He got to the point to where he wanted to stay on Earth instead of returning to Heaven, so he struck a deal with God. God made him a guardian Angel, but he could only guard those deemed evil - which is how he ended up being Demi's, because she was a vampire at the time..."

She turned her red gaze back on the pen, remembering the rest of what she had seen. "His future takes two seperate paths, and it's not something that I see often - the first future I saw for him was one of peace; he remains laying low, does a job here and there, and slowly rises up through the ranks comfortably over the years while also keeping an eye on Demi. The other... the other future I saw is death, at the hands of someone in the Company - a relative of Demi's."
