End of the Recruiting [Alec, Demi, or Invite][NR]

Well, this recruiting thing had gone down the toilet rather quickly. Two of the recruits had been accepted into the Company due to a specific skill set, and work that had already been put in.

The other two? Disappeared, apparently. As had Maximillian.

This had been the task for him to do, and she had only been supposed to help. But, the little bit of work that had been put in, had been her doing; mostly. So, her agitation was high as she walked into her father's office, leaving the door open behind herself. Her arms were folded across her chest, her phone in her right hand, and her eyes filled with lightning and anger.

The very thin hold she had had on her temper was slipping, and she had had just enough calmness left in herself to send Demitria a nice text asking for her to come to Alec's office so that she could talk to her.

As she waited she glanced towards her father, mumbling "Maxi's missing in action...", before looking back towards the door and waiting for her friend to enter in. If anyone would know where he was, it would be his child.. but would she even know?

She would wait until her friend entered the room before asking her, "So... where's your father at?"

She had been enjoying her time on the roof with Spook, but before long her phone had gone off and the text had been one she couldn't ignore. She knew Destiny wouldn't be bothering her if it wasn't important; so she had attached her fan to its holster on her back and had said goodbye to Spook before heading downstairs.

She didn't waste time getting to Alec's office, and stepped inside through the open door, closing it behind herself. She looked from Alec to Destiny and then frowned at the question presented her way. She stared at her best friend for a moment before she walked over to the window. Her arms folded across her chest, shoulders hunching in as if she were upset or uncomfortable.

She stared out the window for a long minute, which to her felt like an hour even though it wasn't, before she said softly, "I.. I don't know... and frankly, I don't care anymore." She felt hurt; it had been four and a half months (1 month, 4 days IRL) since she had lost her head... and in that time period she had seen her father only twice. Riley hadn't seen him at all, and Nanalie had seen him once. The pain of that... it sucked. And she didn't bother hiding it; her mind was open, the thoughts, emotions, feelings, all easily able to be seen and picked out of her head.

Ok. First Flynn, now Maxi with the falling off the radar thing. Maxi, the General, his homie from Inc. Alec wondered if Maxi even knew that Xan was back, or if he even cared. What had he been doing? Laying on his ass in a suite somewhere? There were children, super heroes and ninjas running around out there doing work, and no reports of any jobs done by Maxi had come in since his appearance.

Flynn seemed to just fall off the face of the planet before he got found somewhere dead, but it didn't much matter since Remiel snatched the memories of him out of Demi's and her kid's heads. It seemed like Maxi was going that same route now. With everything this girl had already been through leading up until now, it just made Alec see red. He slammed his fists against the desk before him, vibrating the entire floor.

The image of her with her head separated from her shoulders would haunt him until the end of time. Neither Flynn or Maxi were anywhere to be found. As dark clouds gather outside, quickly causing the area to darken, Alec figured he was more family to her than either of those two would ever be. She'd suffered so much because of those two not being there, it made him burn on the inside. An evil expression covered his face. Alec didn't think the job he gave Maxi was very hard. Test out some recruits for a month, (1 week irl) hire them in if they hack it, fire them if they don't. It seemed like this whole recruitment thing was all one big waste of time. "I'm here if you need me," he had said. But where was he now?

But then, just as the lightning strikes and thunder claps were getting their worst...he suddenly calmed down. An idea crossed his mind, and it would solve all problems. Demi wouldn't have to suffer or be without a family anymore, and neither would either of those kids. He nodded his head as the clouds began to clear up, and typed several commands into the computer, the commands to send the signal to the pendant in Maxi's possession to trigger the remote failsafe deactivation. He stood from the recliner to walk around the desk and over to Demi, slipping his right arm over her shoulders. He began to lead her toward the door.

"Come with me, we need to take a trip and go fix some things. Company business trip.."

Destiny stared at her best friend for a moment longer. She could hear the pain and hurt in her voice, see it in the way she hunched in on herself... she didn't even need to read her mind to know what was going on. The girl felt abandoned, again... and apparently Dez wasn't the only one getting pissed off about it all as she heard her father slam his fists against his desk hard enough that the floor vibrated.

She watched then as a storm rolled in outside as it always seemed to do when a Kane was angry; violent in its fury. Dez wasn't about to make it worse, she had enough boiling anger to cause all manners of hell, but she kept her own temper reigned in; she had another way to blow off some steam: the punching bag in her bedroom was about to start coming in handy again...

But then the storms ended, and she watched as her father stood up and after wrapping an arm around Demi began to lead her out of the office. She didn't ask questions, she didn't want to know what was about to happen, all she wanted was to blow off some steam and not think about all of the violence and bloodshed currently running through her mind: her family had always been there for her, why couldn't Demi have that? Why did her best friend have to suffer? It made her want to make them suffer...

"I'm going to stay here... I don't... I don't trust myself around other people right now.."

She jumped when Alec slammed his fists on the desk, taking notice of the nasty looking storm that was beginning to brew. She knew she couldn't possibly be the reason Alec was angry, right? It wasn't her fault she didn't know where Maxi was.

She found herself thinking back to when all of this bad shit had started to happen; the day she had gone over to Shinkai and painted harmless rainbows on the white walls. Had she just kept herself from causing trouble maybe none of this would be happening. She wouldn't be sad because every reason leading up to her sadness wouldn't be there.

But, she wasn't going to blame herself for people not being around. That wasn't her fault.

She looked up and at Alec as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders, and turned, walking with him as he led her out of the office. She heard his words and blinked, curiously. "Company business trip to where? And to fix what?", she asked, tilting her head slightly as she let him lead her where ever it was that they were going. She hoped that where ever they were going she wouldn't be gone for too long, she wanted to spend more time with Spook, do some more catching up, maybe go spray paint some murals on walls... all of that fun stuff.

Yeah, all of this misery, madness and feeling left out shit was about to end. Whoever had a problem with things when it was over, well, they would just have a problem. God help the brave soul that called themself attacking him or seeking vengeance.

"We're taking a trip over to Sunset Isle, and we're going to fix you. This is not a subject that's up for debate, so just come along with me."

(Will just do the travel thread from here, since the island is so close now)

He lead the girl up to the roof. Tightening his grip on her slightly while activating his wings which appeared with a brilliant flash and thunder clap sound, it was only in a small instant that she would travel with Alec across the city to stop upon the tropical setting that was Sunset Island...

Demi blinked again at his words; she was broken, hell she was insane after all, but fix her? Fix her how? She wasn't about to ask questions since he said it was a subject that wasn't up for debate. Instead she was just gonna roll with what was going on; though she was more curious as she heard that they were heading to Amaranth's newly named island.

So she went up to the roof with him and felt him tighten his grip somewhat on her as his wings activated; loudly. She looked over towards the island, traveling there with him in a small instant...
