Exploring the Port; an Introduction to a New World. [Open. NR]

She'd only just arrived in the area the night before, and had decided to wait out the morning rush in favor of the late afternoon calm before making herself known. Or rather, just taking the time and risk to wander the wet market near the docks and close to the water where she could hide if needed. She wasn't much experienced with the humans and other creatures of the world; few ever visited the cities below the waves, and even fewer were welcome to. She saw familiar creatures every so often; the mammals that lived split between the land and sea, the odd halfling crustacean or the sailing fishermen that he people traded with on occasions. It gave the place a sense of home, or at least lessened the danger she felt. A bad thing, overall; it put her off her guard and left her vulnerable; without the water to enhance her senses and the dulling effect of being in this form, she was basically a walking target to anyone with less then pure intentions.

At the moment, she was amusing herself trying to identify the various catches of the day that remained in the few stalls that stayed open this late. It wasn't much, the odd monkfish and the common sardines; maybe some late day shrimp from the later boats that missed the main rush. Nothing too interesting; but enough to keep her occupied while she worked up the courage to enter a shop, or a food stall. She wasn't sure she was ready for that yet, enclosed spaces where not her friend; and she was already seeing the first hints of the drunken night culture of the locals. Alien world, this was; but that wouldn't stop her forever. She was determined to explore, and she would, in her own time.

"Heeeeeey pretty lady. Wanna drink?"

Her attention was pulled from a strange hunk of what appeared to be local seaweed that was being sold as medicine by an elder lady; turning toward where the slightly slurred voice originated from. A sailor, well on his way to getting drunk and pissing the night away. Strange, she'd known plenty of sailors before, and none of them acted like these human sailors. No wonder the crustacean, cetacean, and lutrinae (otter) sailors her people trades with held human sailors in such low regard.

"Forgive me, but I do not partake in alcoholic beverages. This was true enough; it wasn't that she couldn't drink booze, she just didn't enjoy it. She was young enough to have no had the time to build the tolerance to the substance, so she was what the sailors would call a virgin drunk; she couldn't handle her drink, and she avoided it because of that.

"No worries darlin', ye can come hang out with me an' my boys. We'll make a party 'a it anyway, eh!" The pushy sailor's buddies where starting to melt out of the shadows around her; she was literally surrounded by them. Delightful. The looks on their faces screamed that they had different ideas than just to drink with her.

"No no, thank you for the offer, but I really should be going... I'm supposed to meet with someone in a few minutes..."

"Pretty little girl is a pretty little liar."

"Seems so, Nashir. We should teach her that liars never prosper, eh boys?"

"Aye!"

Well, this wouldn't end well...
