Zombie Adventure Ep. #4 [Open][NR]

Alec got up and headed towards those offices behind the restaurants, and V went with him. Alec informed them about the barricade that was about to fall, and they began trying to come up with a plan. A distraction so that they could all run for it wasn't going to work, because many of them couldn't run.

The next plan was to fix the RVs in the parking garage. Alec would get in that sports car and get all of the attention on him so that everyone could run. Stretch already began the downloads of the RV's engine schematics and uploading them to his computer, so as soon as he found out what was wrong with the vehicles he'd know how to fix it.

He left out again with Alec, assuming that they were headed for the parking garage to check out the RVs before heading to Sears for the proper parts.

The parking garage. It was pretty far from the food court. If those things got in, the situation could turn out bad. Alec wondered if Amaranth/Mitsukai still had on her headset from the other dimension. Alec tapped his in his left ear.

”Amaranth... if you can hear this, get to the food court, tell Alex and Burt to start moving people toward the garage. It's a pretty long walk; if the walkers get in here then it's game over for the survivors. Get them moving toward the garage now, better safe then sorry.”

The problems with the engines in each of the 4 RVs were minor and could be easily repaired with materials from Sears, which was the next stop. With the materials gathered, assuming that Amaranth did as she was asked, Alec and Vigilante would now be stepping around people on the way back to the garage.

With 2 of the 3 RVs quickly brought back into running operation in the matter of about 2 hours, Alec left the last to Vigilante and made one more trip to Sears for speakers and audio equipment. Another hour was spent installing the audio equipment into the convertible, which still ran the same as it did the day it came off the showroom floor. Alec filled the tank after checking the engine out for himself.

The Car:

It was around this time that the barricade finally gave out. There were loud crashes and the sounds of things being pushed out of the way as the horde poured inside like a disease. The barricade wasn't far from Alec's position, who didn't even change expressions as he watched the approaching undead.

”It's on, Amaranth... they're in. Tell Vigilante to get that RV running, i'll hold them off for now, and block up the door behind you. Then i'll head outside and create an opening.”

Alec threw the dufflebag in the back seat of the convertible and jumped into the driver's seat. He pulled from the bag his prized M16 after sliding a CD into the stereo, which began to blare loudly, echoing inside of the mall. With one arm Alec pointed the automatic weapon and left off an entire clip; the deafening sound of it also bouncing off the walls, able to be heard clearly from anywhere inside. This would also let everyone know that playtime was over. Many dead bodies were killed again and cluttered on the floors to trip some of the crowd up, creating an undead pile of blood, slime and internal organs. This wouldn't last long though.

M16:

Alec slammed on the gas and drove off of the platform, the engine growling and the tires squealing. Alec performed several donuts on the floor of the mall, producing more loud noises for the walkers to be attracted to, and giving everyone time to get to the parking garage. He loaded in another clip into the M16 and fired into the crowd again; each of the magazine's 30 bullets fired into a separate brain.

One Man Army:

Amaranth packed several bags filled with an assortment of clothing; ranging from all sizes, male, female, and unisex. As she was in the middle of heading back she spotted what looked to be a sporting goods store a few stores down. She dropped the clothing down over the edge of the balcony after ensuring no one was standing directly below and then turned back, knowing that places like that could have at least weapons on hand if not other things that would come in handy. She walked quickly, not knowing exactly how much time she was going to have to look around, and not wanting to waste a second of it. When she entered into the store she began to look around, figuring that it might have some useful items available still since the upper floor had been so untouched.

The first thing she came across were some hunting daggers; big long nasty looking ones. She gathered them up, tossing them in the remaining bag she had gotten her hands on. As she continued on she passed the gun area: where, when this store was up and running, you'd be able to purchase a wide variety of fire arms, ammunition, and your hunting liscense. Grinning she used her elbow to smash open the display case; gathering up the various guns and ammunition - all being deposited as quickly as possible into her bag in respective pockets. When she was finished and turning to leave she spotted something that would be a lot more quieter, useful if they needed to take down enemies from a long range without drawing attention to themselves: a crossbow.

She ran over and grabbed up the cross bow and the boat load of arrows with it. As she was fitting the last arrow into the four slot holder and securing the rest in a quiver she heard her grandfather's voice in her ear. "Got it, grandad!", she responded before she went running out of the store. She jumped easily over the railing and landed in a crouch before standing back up. "If everyone could follow me please it would be much appreciated. Each little group you seem to be paired up in already can take a bag of food and a bag of clothing. Let's not make this complicated folks, it's time to get out of here.", she spoke in a clear but calm voice: she knew if she sounded rushed or hurried that it would likely cause them to panic, and a group of panicked people were the last thing that they needed.

The survivors moved very quickly, and followed her commands very well, which allowed Amaranth who was carrying the bag of weapons she had found and her own bag to be able to lead them to the garage in a relatively quick fashion. "Everyone please get your groups into the respective RV's you see running; let's do this as quickly and orderly as possible folks. When we start moving out it'll be a simple game of follow the leader: i'll be in the RV at the front of the group." Surprisingly everyone continued to listen; making the process take far less time than it probably normally would - but then again, these people knew what was at stake if they didn't listen to her.

When she heard her grandfather's voice in her ear she turned her gaze towards Vigilante while everyone was quickly getting into the RV's; each one containing several bags of food and clothing due to the way everyone was organized. "V, they've broken the barricade. My grandad's going to hold them off and create an opening for us to leave; but we gotta get going now." Amaranth could hear a weapon firing and knew it was her grandfather. Amaranth jumped into the RV closest to the exit and got behind the driver's seat: oh yeah, this was going to be fun, dangerous, but fun.

The garage, Sears, then the garage again, this time stepping between and around people on the way there. He and Alec went to work fixing the Recreational Vehicles. V had the schematics sent to him by Stretch to go on, but Alec must have had experience fixing cars and engines. He didn't know why, seeing as how back in Edge he could fly, but V wasn't gonna question that.

When 2 of the RVs were ready Alec left, probably to get that convertible ready. The last RV wasn't taking long. The survivors began to pile into them with bags of food, clothes and weapons. Amaranth was going to lead them out of here—could she drive? Who was he to ask. She was probably older than he was. V wasn't going to protest; her and her grand dad knew best.

After Amaranth said they needed to get going, V could hear gunfire, music, and tires squealing, which meant that the horde outside must have gotten inside, and Alec was holding them back. V did a circular motion with his arm to the driver, which was telling him to start the RV. That it did, with no sputtering or hiccups. V closed the hood, then jumped up onto the roof of the RV, which would be last in the convoy, planning on covering everyone's asses as they made a break for it. ”Good taste in music your grand dad has!” V said to Amaranth over in RV #1

Now, they just had to wait for Alec to make an opening outside...

Alec drove to the far end of the mall, to the exit that lead into the parking garage and spun the car in a circle. Standing some in the driver's seat, he fired the M16's Grenade Launcher and destroyed the exit, making it so that nothing could get in. Sitting again, he slammed back on the gas and sped back through the mall, music blaring and his head nodding.

He approached the beginnings of the horde and spun the convertible in a circle again, the ass end of the car slamming into several and creating a domino effect. Slamming back on the gas, Alec drove the car up a flight of stairs to the 2nd floor, while at the same time looking back and unloading another clip into the endless crowd behind.

”Amaranth... wait for my signal to leave... I'll clear the way for you.”

The bass was so loud in the car that Alec got a massage from the vibrations, and the mirrors were blurry from them. It was what made the horde follow him up the stairs, attracted to the sound like flies to shit. Alec sped through the upstairs hall, swerving and detouring through several shops. At the end was a large glass window, on the same side of the building as the garage exit. After shooting out the window, Alec smashed on the brakes and got out. He walked to the window and fired several grenades. The detonations blew several dozen of the walkers to pieces, and knocked many other off of their feet.

Alec got back into the car, slammed on the gas, spun the car around in a circle to gain some running room, then spun back around and out of the window. After landing on the recently cleared ground and regaining control of the vehicle, Alec began speeding around the huge parking lot. He put in another CD as he sped back and fourth several times, gathering the attention of the hundreds of thousands of walkers. After 3 passes, the garage door was clear.

”Alright Amaranth, the way is clear. Go for it...”

"That he does!", she called back to the Vigilante after hearing his comment about her grandfather's taste in music. She listened carefully to the chaos going on inside of the mall while watching through the review mirror and seeing the last of the survivors load themselves onto the RV's. She sent a silent prayer up to God, hoping he would listen, for a safe trip for all of them out of this now zombie infested hell hole.

She could hear several of the survivors muttering about wanting to leave, asking what was holding them up, and wanting to get going instead of waiting. "Calm down folks, we have to wait until my grandad clears the way first... we go out there now we'll be swamped before we can get moving. None of us want that, eh?" She certainly didn't want eaten, and she was sure none of them did either. No, it was best to wait for her grandfather's signal.

Which, came soon enough. "Got it, grandad, leaving now." she said into her headset. "Alright, he's cleared the way, let's go folks!" She took the RV out of park and put her foot on the gas; the RV moving easily as could be under her steering. She drove quickly, but not too quick to cause an issue or risk harming anyone or anyone getting left behind. Out of the garage and into the now zombie free streets as they were all too busy focused on her grandfather and the amount of noise he was making to notice the several RV's packed with people escaping the garage; and heading out into, at least for the moment, the zombieless streets. 

"Wow, where'd you learn how to drive?", one of the survivors asked her after they were clear from the garage and moving down the street. 

"Eh, I own my own island, so I create the laws... driving age is thirteen with parent consent. I kind of get to skip that being the Boss, but I don't think my parents would have too much of an issue with the fact I can drive... At least I hope not, or I'm going to be in even bigger trouble when I get home than I already am... ", Amaranth responded, grinning as she caught the facial expression of shock and awe on some of the younger survivors faces in the review mirror.

There was a boom. The scanner told V that Alec blew up the entryway into the garage, so that none of the freaks could get to them. He could still hear music playing and tires on the floor while Alec drove around, probably having fun while he did what he did. He drove to the second floor and shattered a window, then blew up a bunch of the freaks while at the same time knocking a bunch of others down.

He drove back and fourth outside and cleared out the way into the garage. Amaranth lead the convoy of RVs out, with the other 3 following behind. V was sitting on the roof of the last RV, with his cape flapping around in the wind. When they were outside he could hear Alec change songs.

Assuming that the Outskirts were next, V remained where he was, watching the ass of the RV convoy.

The RVs were driving out of the Mall Parking Garage and on the road, headed into the Outskirts. None of the crowd was following, specifically because of the tuning that he and Vigilante put onto the RVs that made the engines quiet. Keeping the thousands of undead occupied by the loud car, louder music and occasional gunfire gave all of them plenty of time to creep away.

Alec slammed on the gas and made for the road. A giant water tower was next to the road on the exit of the Mall Parking Lot, and precisely aimed bullets caused this tower to fall and block the way behind Alec as he sped off, in pursuit of the RV train.

He was glad that worked without anyone getting hurt or killed. How long this would last before they got to the bridge was a matter still left to be seen. He caught up to the RV train with the engine growling loudly, to the many cheers of the survivors. Alec sped out front of the train and turned the car backwards, shifting gears into reverse while nodding his head to the music, seeing Amaranth driving the first RV. Ordinarily he would have gotten mad since he didn't intend for her to be driving, but it looked like she knew what she was doing, and a lot of the survivors were laughing. Therefore while still smoking a joint he continued to drive backwards in front of her and nod his head to The Boondocks ending theme...

/Exit/

Amaranth checked the review mirror again and saw that all of the RV's made it out of the garage and were following her down the road safe and sound; with V on top of the last one keeping watch for any sneak attacks from the rear. She took a deep and relaxing breath even as a grin spread across her face: they had all gotten out of the mall safely and just in time too. All and all it was a win for the survivors and she could only hope that their luck would stay as positive as it was right now.

As she drove, leading the way, she headed towards the outskirts, where she like everyone else was hoping there would be far less zombies to have to worry about. Some fresh air would be lovely too, since the zombies stunk horribly bad.

As she kept her eyes on the road and drove within the lines - at least unless she had to make her way around a random vehicle abandoned in the road - she noticed her grandfather catch up to them and then turn around and begin to drive backwards while bobbing his head to the music. She couldn't help but laugh even as her grin spread further. 

As they exited the city area she saw the outskirts ahead... and hoped that their luck would remain the same.
