Zombie Adventure Ep.# 6[Open][NR]

Normally this technological marvel at making driving around a city as large as this one a breeze would be full of cars, on both of it's decks. Alec began to consider devising a freeway in Edge very similar to this one, even with him not being Boss there anymore. It was still his home regardless, and would still be able to dable in the everyday going-ons of the super metropolis.

With a particular tune playing that seemed to match the gloomy skies around them while speeding down the empty freeway, swerving around random cars here and there, Alec kept crimson eyes peeled for any sorts of movements. So far, there was no sign of this freeway gang. If they were able to make it all the way to The Bridge, since the Super Freeway was connected to it at the end, then all the better.

"Keep a look out behind us, grand baby... There's guns and grenades and things in my bag, use some of it if you have to."

Neither side of the freeway had anything very threatening at the moment. Walkers were here and there along the way, but the convertible was going far too fast for them to pose any danger. Most cars were on the correct side of the freeway, leaving Alec to drive nearly unobstructed on the opposite side. With yet another joint burning at his lips, Alec slowly nodded his head to the beat of the tune blaring from the speakers, waiting for the next edition to this drama to unfold.

Amaranth was, all in all, still amazed at the city as a whole. The fact that Pacific City was a result of a sort of war between Pacific City and Edge City, and some very jealous humans, still amazed her. How someone could ruin such a city as this just out of spite still amazed her. She could never imagine doing something like this, creating some sort of super virus or attempting to play god, just because someone else had a island such as hers that might be ‘better’ in some way.

At her grandfather’s words she snapped out of her thoughts with a nod: still keeping an eye out for anything out of the ordinary while listening to the music her grandfather was playing. If anything happened to pop up she not only had her own gunscythe which would work wonders in a situation such as this but the weapons her grandfather had mentioned as well.

“I wonder if this gang will be worse than the last one we saw…” The things people did when the world was ending truly showed how little people had come: everyone had the base instinct of survival, and everyone wanted to live, but some people were willing to take it to extremes that should never be reached – such as eating their friends, families, and even enemies. It's what made her truly believe that if they came across this highway gang that they would be forced to fight: no amount of talking would get through to people who were that far gone. The only thing that would matter to them was finding easier ways to survive and the moment they got a look at the sort of weapons they were packing... well, they'd want them, that was for sure.

Sitting on the back of the last RV, V started to get bored. Alec and Amaranth must have been having lots of fun up ahead of the convoy, beating up and shooting the members of this road gang. He could hear some of the survivors talking below, but he wasn't going to be too nosy. The scanners worked to find anyone hiding up here on this big freeway, which was unlike anything he'd ever seen back home, but to be honest he wasn't expecting any sort of resistance with someone like Alec and his grand daughter on the case.

Stretch and his girl Jasmine were doing something off camera. V thought back to the fights he'd seen Alec in, and began to think up a new upgrade to the suit; a "Super Mode" of sorts where he was on over-drive. He began to surf the internet for parts and configurations, creating a diagram of what he wanted in his head-sup display. After a while Stretch, much to Jasmine's disappointment, came and got back in front of the screen straightening his glasses once he saw what V was up to.

"...Interesting. These components all look to boost your capabilities several times...what did you have in mind? You trying to go Super Saiyan?"

"Something like that...Wanna do something to be able to keep up with Alec and Amaranth. Even the odds..."


"...Alright...I have some of these parts and ingredients around here, the rest won't be too hard to get my hands on. Give me a while to put it together and I should be able to send it to you, kinda like Jr sent Alec his guns, especially now that your closer to The Bridge."

"Got it."

Movement. As they pass several abandoned busses and cars, what looked to be rigged up dune buggies and altered sports cars began to follow them. They were occupied by individuals dressed in football helmets and equipment. Some of them clutched baseball bats and hockey sticks. Others held automatic weapons and pistols. There were 4 vehicles in all. Alec casually glanced back at them as some started to catch up, while others were having difficlties because they weren't as fast as the convertible.

One of the cars started shooting at them, but their aim was terrible. Alec didn't even bother to duck, mostly since Sharingan let him see the paths that the bullets would travel before they even left the weapons they were fired from, and none even came close to he or Amaranth. He reached behind him to grab the M16, pointed and fired several shots at the first dune buggy. The two front tires were destroyed, and after precise shots to the brakes, the buggy flipped many dozens of times. The occupants were tossed from the vehicle and crushed under the weight of it.

Others, in the sports car, were firing at them still, making several bullets ricochet from the doors and one from the top of the windshield. They began to gain on them. Alec was about to fire at them, but came up with a better idea.

"Amaranth take the wheel."

Before she could protest, Alec was out of the car and airborne, with only his Katana. He drew it to deflect several bullets as he sailed through the air, landing on the hood of the sports car. The person firing at him was soon relieved of a hand and the weapon, filling the cab with screams and the blood shooting from his wound. Alec sliced open the roof next, causing it to fly backwards toward another one of the dune buggys. The driver was kicked in his mouth, then the passenger's screams were joined by the two in the back, with baseball bats. They swung them toward Alec, only to have both chopped in half, along with several fingers. After beheading the driver, Alec jumped into the air again. The car drove off the side of the freeway and down into darkness. There was a loud boom and an ornage fireball soon after.

Alec landed in the back seat of the convertible. There were 2 cars still chasing. Still with his calm expression, Alec thought of a creative way to deal with them next.

Amaranth watched as more and more people began to show up, chasing after them in cars: she figured this was the highway gang that they had been previously warned about and could only roll her eyes in response. They were firing at herself and her grandfather but were all missing by long shots: which was good because she had no interest in learning what it felt like to be struck by a bullet.

She had been about to grab up her weapon and fire back when her grandfather told her to grab the wheel and then jumped out of the moving vehicle without waiting for her response. “Darnit!”, she said as she grabbed the wheel to keep the car steady while she made quick work in jumping in the drivers seat. Thankfully the convertible was even easier to drive than the RV’s had been and so she had no trouble in adjusting to the change from the larger vehicle to the smaller.

Her silvery colored gaze shifted from the road to her grandfather as she watched what her grandfather was doing. Blood was flying everywhere as were body parts, limbs, and car parts as her grandfather made quick work with the highway gang members. Amaranth also took care to check the cars rear view mirror to keep an eye on what was going on with the RV’s behind them and to ensure that the Vigilante was doing alright back there by himself.

When her grandfather landed back in the car she glanced again into the rear view and side mirrors, quickly noticing that there were still two cars chasing after them. “Sometimes I don’t understand the way people think… you see all this carnage and you still aren’t smart enough to just give up and go away….” Amaranth truly was perplexed by it all: she didn’t understand that method of thinking. If you just saw all of your friends slaughtered in such a quick and brutal fashion than why would you continue to chase after the person who did it? Why not just give up? Then again, these were some of the ruthless people they had heard about, so perhaps it was better they too ended up dying as well: the world needed some less scum in it.

"That dude is crazy."

There was something going on ahead, especially since survivors below were making ooohh's and aahh's. A buggy car like something off of Mad Max was turning over and crushing the people who were once in it. Big V zoomed in just in time to see Alec jump out of his car and land on another chasing them. There were sparks around him when he jumped, which meant he had to be blocking bullets. Stretch and even Jasmine were eyes peeled in front of the screen again, watching him tear the roof off of the car and slaughter everyone inside.

A trail of blood on the roadway, complimented by body parts and a decapitated head. After Alec jumped off of the car again, the enemy car drove off the side and blew up after. He could hear survivors below cheering and clapping. "Yeah...like some main character in a video game or something. Come on man, get back on those parts. There's smart zombies in here too, if he can't handle them by himself or with Amaranth I wanna be able to help."

"I'm on it."

The last 2 cars seemed hesitant, and Alec almost thought the occupants heard what Amaranth said. One of the cars pulled off to the side and stopped, leaving Alec to think that they either gave up, or were going to have a go at the RV caravan. In which case, Alec was confident that Vigilante would easily handle them. The other car kept coming, but the passenger was no longer wildly firing his pistol. Alec put up both of his arms in a fashion as if to say "Well? Is that all?"

The passenger pulled an old school Rocket Launcher. After extending it, he leaned out of the passenger side window and prepared to fire; during which time Alec pulled a Kunai from his ninja bag. At the end of it was tied an explosive tag. Sharingan allowed him a precise toss of the explosive knife, aimed right for the barrel of the launcher. The passenger fired right as the knife was inches away, producing an explosion that threw the car airborne and into many barrel rolls, killing all of the occupants instantly.

Alec was in the back seat sitting next to his dufflebag. He turned back forward and pulled out his zippo to re-light his joint, taking a long drag. Ahead of them, a large section of the Super Freeway was blocked off by many cars and busses. Closer inspection showed that perhaps some survivors created a makeshift camp and attempted to hold out within a wall of vehicles, but seeing as there were no longer any signs of life, that meant that they either moved on, or didn't make it. There was no way to drive around the cars, but there was a freeway exit coming up.

"Amaranth, we're gonna have to get off of here, take that exit over there. No way to get around that, we gotta get off and go find another entrance."

Amaranth watched as one of the remaining two cars pulled off at the side of the road: at first Amaranth half expected them to try and pull something but they didn’t. That left the car following them. What she saw through the rear view mirror was something she expected from someone like her mother: when all else fails just blow it up! However, before Amaranth had a chance to start pulling some fancy maneuvers with the convertible she watched her grandfather pull out something she recognized as an explosive tag and take care of the problem.

Which left another problem: the fact that the road in front of them was blocked off save for an exit off of the freeway.

“Alright.”, she said in response to her grandfather and drove the car towards the exit and down it. “It’d be nice if we could find a map somewhere… it’d be the easiest way to find a way back on after that blockage.”

A big boom. The scanner told V that Alec threw something; what it was? He had no idea. The last of the gang attempted to fire what looked like a Rocket Laucher at Alec and Amaranth, but whatever Alec threw prevented that. The buggy blew up, and the caravan swerved around the burning wreckage.

The other buggy slowed down and stopped. V really didn't think they'd be stupid enough to try them, but, he was wrong of course. When the caravan was past them, the buggy started on again, deciding to go after what they probably considered the weaker prey, but what they hadn't counted on was Big V.

He stood up and engaged his jets and flew directly into the buggy with them, punching the surprised driver in the mouth, instantly drawing blood. V then punched the passenger dozens of times in a quick fashion, elbowing the driver in the nose that made a loud crunch sound, signaling the break. V grabbed the wheel and steered the buggy over to the edge, jumping out as the vehicle went over the side, crashing in the dark below.

The jets carried him back to the convoy, and he took his seat on the back of the last RV again. Stretch and Jasmine both sat plain faced staring at the screen. "...Still no commmentary? No amazed looks? All for Alec then, huh?"

"Well I kinda already know what you're gonna do before you do it dude, i've seen you in action enough times. Alec is in a whole other ballpark..."

"...Right."

Alec looked back as he heard a crash back in the distance. The buggy that stopped must have tried something with the convoy, and the crash must have meant that they were dealt with by Vigilante. Taking a drag from the joint Alec looked back forward as Amaranth got off of the Super Freeway into an area that looked pretty much untouched by this zombie outbreak.

Alec thought it strange. The streets were empty, but everything wasn't all torn up and worn out like the other areas they'd visited. Down the street there was a large wall of cars. After they'd gotten so far down the street, it was too late that Alec would notice that they were surrounded by people on the tops of houses and buildings, all holding automatic weapons. A lot of them were wearing military gear and their stances let Alec know that they'd been trained.

"Amaranth, stop the car..."

A few of them were on the ground too, stepping out into the road, right around the time that the convoy caught up to them. "Out! Out of the car!" one of them said, pointing his rifle at Amaranth and Alec. His calm look didn't leave his face as he got out, his dufflebag over his shoulder. He began to think that perhaps that this was the refuge of the last of the brains in this lost city. Alec wanted to meet the heads of this refuge. He spoke into his communicator to both Amaranth and Vigilante.

"Go easy, you two. I'm thinking whoever's responsible for all of this may be in here if they have this kind of protection. I wanna meet them. Go easy until we get inside and we see who's who..."

Alec got out of the convertible and put his hands up, his hood hiding most of his grinning face from view...

This part of town was almost unbelievable: every where else there had been destruction, death, chaos, and the smells… well, she didn’t even want to think about those. But here? It was… peaceful here, serene really. A little too late into the drive did she too realize that there were people up on the tops of buildings watching them. Her face took on an emotionless mask: hiding the burning curiosity and other emotions that she was feeling so that those looking on at them wouldn’t be given any advantages.

At her grandfather’s command she slowed the car to a stop, throwing a glance in the rear view mirror as she wondered how close the RV train was and if they would be able to turn back before reaching her. But, she figured they too were about to be involved in all of this whether they liked it or not.

At the command to get out of the car and the words of her grandfather she let out a sigh and slowly and carefully opened the car door. She got out, making sure her hands remained visible the entire time: the last thing she wanted after all was to be shot. She was curious to see where her grandfather was going with all of this and curious to see who was behind this location being as nicely set up as it was. Apparently those answers were going to come relatively soon…
