The Cure... [Open]

Science was sometimes a very cruel mistress; sometimes it forced you to make sacrifices and sometimes it sacrificed things all on its own completely without your control. It was why Destiny was in her lab, in the lower sections of the tower, currently bent over a microscope and staring at a slide; waiting and hoping that she saw what she needed to. She knew the chances of something going wrong over in Pacific City were high and the very last thing she wanted was to see her father end up injured or turned into a zombie.

Thankfully, she had created her own zombie months ago, and therefore had a great deal of experience with the thing. She knew what parts had to be removed for the zombie to be considered safe, and she had already been experimenting with a cure for months now in the off chance that her own zombie accidentally got loose and bit or scratched someone.

This was exactly why she was as far as she was right now on the cure. She had been using her own zombies blood and testing it on Hikari's donated blood. Hikari was human, lacking any sort of immunities, as would her blood, so it was the perfect base. Of course, she wasn't going to infect the female herself, but her blood would do just well on the test slides. Right now what she was seeing was two small circles; one damn near black which was the infected blood, and one bright red; they were combining which was exactly what she wanted them to do. Once they had finished with the combination dance,, meaning that Hikari's donated blood had been infected with the virus, she grabbed the syringe filled with a small dose of the cure she had been working on.

She positioned the tip of the needle, hovering, over top of the infected blood. She pushed the plunger which caused a single drop of the cure to drop down on the virus. After capping the syringe and putting it off to the side, something that took mere seconds, she looked through the telescope once more and watched.

It took a minute for her to see anything more than the clear liquid resting on top of the infected blood, but then something began to happen. Slowly the blood, which had begun to lose its bright oxygenated color, started to slowly brighten. This continued to happen until all traces of the black colored virus were gone: leaving nothing but the blood remaining.

She took the slide off of the telescope and moved it to the special testing machine she had built. She inserted the slide and after pressing a sequence of buttons the machine began to hum as it analyzed the slide. It took several minutes in which Dez stood by impatiently and waited, foot tapping on the ground. When the machine beeped she moved over to the printer next to it, her hand held out to catch the paper that kept whizzing out of it. She read the paper once, twice, and after the third time she began to suddenly grin: the blood was cured. She had done it...she had made the cure.

Now... she just had to duplicate it enough to be useful.

Dez got to work quickly; she didn't want to waste a single second because she had no idea what was going on, or if anyone she cared about had already been infected. She knew what she needed to do to replicate the cure and got to work. After mixing several choice chemicals and herbs together, creating a much larger batch than she had the first time, she followed through the same procedure as before.

She took a drop of Hikari's blood and mixed it with a drop of her own zombies blood. After it combined, meaning that the blood was infected, she tested a sample from the larger test batch against it. When she saw the blood turn back to its bright red color she then put the slide through the same machine as before and pressed the same buttons. The hum started up, and moments later it beeped, and then the print out came popping out.

After snatching the print out and reading it carefully several times over again she nodded to herself: she had successfully duplicated the cure into large enough batches to send to her father. Not only would he be safe from infection as would Vigilante, but it would allow her to press onward and find some way to cure 'en mass... though, she had a feeling that would take a bit longer, and be a lot more harder. How did one administer a cure to millions of people?

Right... that was going to take more than a few hours... but at least her friends and family would be safe.

So, she broke the batch down into multiple plastic vials - plastic didn't break after all - and grabbed multiple packs of syringes from her shelves.

Dez went over to her notepad and scribbled neatly several notes; she put down the instructions to follow for curing oneself.

"Fill the syringe to 10ml and inject into one of the main artery's, it'll take several minutes to work. If the infected has already turned inject them with 25ml straight into the heart." With the instructions written out she placed it all into one plastic bag and then into another; this way she didn't have to worry about any of them getting loose.

With everything set up she headed out of the laboratory and up the steps, preparing to leave the tower with the cure and head to Edge City.
