He supposed he should get right to work. No time to waste, and all that. But...what was one to do? No one seemed suspicious in this bank, after all. Completely business as usual, when there was supposed to be a robbery staged about two minutes ago. What kinds of thieves were these people, being tardy...
Tsk-tsking to himself, Maven turned to exit, but just as he did, his luck ran out. A half-whisper, half-shout came over the room quite abruptly:
"Your vault. Open it or everyone here will die." Now, it took Maven quite a small moment to discern that this was actually what he came for: and what an 'oops' moment it was for him to turn around at that specific point in time.
No regretting it now, I suppose. His objective was not to stop the robbery, but to apprehend the person who stole the money. Why it had to be this way, he had no idea. Jobs were jobs.
In a matter of about ten minutes, Maven, having exited the establishment and not being one of those 'held up', saw a man run out with a rather hefty and bulging sack. He entered a truck that was enclosed in back, so Maven assumed it was armored. It did not take much: A bit of sneaking here, a tidbit of being a normal pedestrian there....it went a long way. After going down, crossing, and shortcutting his way through and around 18 different streets in the Upper Market District, the truck stopped. Concealing himself behind a corner, Maven began working his magic. Quite literally.
Engine...working perfectly. Failure rate of gas tank containment in this model, 43%. Now...! Adjusting the very chance of the standard hole in the top of these models' fuel tanks leaking out a bit of gas where it oughtn't. And:
Boom-boom.
Just as the getaway truck was taking off, it erupted in a conflagration of surprisingly anticlimactic size. The man wasn't hurt at all...but he needed to be dealt with. His accomplices certainly weren't going anywhere; not dead, but definitely not conscious.
"Would the contents of that bag match those of the Upper South Market District Bank's vault? Edict 496: You have to answer when you are questioned, even when under a citizen's arrest." As he did this, Maven horizontally waved his arm from left to right, the law spelling itself out in midair.
"Y-you bitch! You did this!? Powered bastards....YOU ARE NOT BETTER THAN ME!" Aaaand, a Glock. The classic concealed weapon...how could he have not been prepared to deal with this...?
Evasion chance....18%. Not good...He had to do something, though. Otherwise, not only would his job fail, he probably would not be doing any more.
"Edict X-2: Firearms are not permitted to be used on Citizens without apparent direct assault having provoked it."And, the man, a gruff-voiced older male with a ski mask on, fired his pistol.
They just don't listen... The bullet stopped in midair, and Maven picked it up with no rush from its position.
"Y-you're a fucking freak! You shouldn't be alive!" "Oh, I'm well aware of that. However, I'm going to need that money back. So, I'm afraid this is where we part." Having fired an entire magazine at Maven, only to miss in a combination of his own panic and his target's sheer luck, he reloaded, and as he did so made a retreat step back onto a sewer grate. Which, by chance, was rusty.
Let's just say it was over then. Snap, splash.
Maven's only job was to return the money, or call the authorities. He thought he would do both and just return the money himself.
Yolanda appeared, exiting from one of the nearby buildings due to the commotion. She clapped and jumped up and down a little, trying to remain civil while being giddy.
"Very well job done. This bag of money...it should have more in it than the bank's. He was a very troublesome one...The job, finish it for me, darling?" Without another word, having taken some of the money from the bag, she awarded half to Maven and daintily walked off. Having no idea why she would ask that, he simply returned the money to the bank's vault...they actually had a surplus, the other money purported to have been stolen from a rival bank. Well, they wouldn't just give it back....but they didn't want to stir up trouble by keeping it themselves.
Easy change. Now, where to spend it....

- Spoiler:
Name: Luck Magic (Tychokinesis)
Power Rank: MP.
Description: The ability to manipulate luck and probability through magic (though this is only one manifestation of it, and the user can do so at will). This passively manifests itself as Serendipity, the quality of having unnaturally good luck, in everyday life. The user can engage in combat using Tychokinesis by making their targets, say, trip or otherwise hurt themselves through accidents; they can also cause unlikely events to occur in order to attack. Likewise, they can protect themselves by causing certain events to divert attacks away from them, or cause the abilitiy fail entirely; they can also cause likely/impending events to not occur. This ability faces very little resistance itself, but the effects it causes are completely within the natural world, and thus might get trumped by powers. The user cannot make anything happen that had a probability rate of zero to begin with, but can avert events with 100% probability.
Name: Magical Law (Reglakinesis)
Power Rank: MP | PC with power boost.
Description: The ability to manipulate, create, and delete the rules or laws in one's personal space using magic; it also gives the user a very potent knowledge of rules and laws in their immediate area. This is a very difficult ability to implement; even at Maven's +5 ability strength, this base ability can only do a few things.
-Change physical laws (such as those of physics) that only affect the user, and even then in a minor fashion; rather, these laws can only be changed their personal space, or a very small area around them. The user's Complete Volition extends to these laws, which cannot be changed or erased by others (this does not mean they cannot be violated). Typically, this does not allow for many other abilities' use, but it does allow the user to perform small feats like wall-walking or levitation.
-Make new laws that do not affect any physical concepts, but impose penalties for violating them. (This must be displayed or announced somehow.)
This ability cannot do anything other than the above on its own, and needs to have independent sub-abilities.
