First Day of Business [Open][NR]

'This... is... excellent.'

Her club, Zero Sum, was finally completed. It was fully stocked and ready for the opening night. Advertisements and flyers had been passed out for days; all which spoke of the opening night, so the public was more than sure to know about it.

With that thought in mind she looked down at the clip board in her hand; they were due to open at any moment. For now they'd be a little short staffed, but Demi herself was more than willing to step up and play bartender if she had to, or throw someone out on their ass if it came to it... In fact, that all sounded rather fun.

She placed her earpiece snugly into her ear that would allow her to keep in constant contact with the other members of her staff and continued with her check-the-list-off routine; ensuring that everything was there, and exactly where it was supposed to be. If things went well her and her staff were going to be taking home a very nice paycheck by the end of every night.

She walked behind the bar, checking each and every bottle on the glowing purple glass shelves, a little bounce in her step from her excitement. She had busted her ass building this club, had helped in the very construction of the building itself and then had had a hand in everything that had come after that. Zero Sum was her baby, so to speak, and she was going to ensure it and the patrons in it were well taken care of and happy.

Kane walked into the new club. His hands were in his coat pockets. A smoke trail followed Alec inside from the "cigar" at his lips. He'd heard about the recent completion of Demi's club and decided to get out of the office for a minute to come see things for himself. Having included his own special tunnel in the construction, Alec didn't even have to go outside.

He wondered if Demi even knew the door in the floor was there, or how she'd take seeing him open the door on the floor behind the bar and rise out of it. Alec pushed the trap door shut with his right foot and leaned on the bar with his elbows, having himself a look around. It'd been a long while since he was in a club atmosphere.

"If you can't find a bartender, hell, i'll come do it. Niala can run things for me if i'm gone too long..."

"So, make that two trap doors in my club... the other being in my office.", she said with a grin as she noticed Alec coming out of the floor behind the bar. She placed her clipboard down on the counter and then hopped up on it, sitting on it nearby. She slipped a remote of sorts out of her pocket and began pressing several buttons; checking that everything worked perfectly. Strobe lights started, the purple glow around the bar and tables brightened and came to life. The main white lights dimmed, allowing the club to be cast into the 'party' atmosphere.

She looked over towards Alec and grinned. "That'd be sweet. I'm still short handed until more people get hired in. Thought I was going to have to juggle all the jobs myself. I'm fast enough now to do it.. but that'd be a major pain in the ass." Though, this handy little remote she had created was definitely coming in handy.

She looked to the clock on the wall that glowed just like the bar and tables did; the same purple as everything else was too; the clock showed there was less than an a hour before the opening. "Hm... " She picked up her clipboard again, going once more through the checklist. They had all of the alcohol needed, the lights and everything were working, and the nights music was already planned out; everything was perfect.

Now there were 2 clubs in Edge City, though activity in the other, Crimson Passions, wasn't as lively as it was the night it opened. Alec pulled over a nearby ashtray and flicked the end of the "Cigar" into it. He watched as she tested out everything. Spook would make a perfect bodyguard/bouncer type. With Amaranth's island out in the river now, and a brand new club opening right behind the tower, Alec was sure these would be fun reasons to visit the city.

"Demi, how are you feeling about everything? I never got the chance to talk to you about all this. I pretty much forced my blood into your veins, you alright with all of this? I'm just tired of seeing you and those kids suffer."

Something else that had been bothering him. He thought what he'd done was for the best. Flynn wasn't even in the picture anymore, and now Maxi was off doing whatever he was doing. He was sure Spook was around here somewhere, and as for himself, he could always be found in his office, and was a short telepathic call away. Jr and Destiny would probably also become regulars here once the found out as well...

Demi hopped down from the counter and turned around, figuring she'd make them a drink; as it was something she enjoyed doing and was damn good at - she'd been doing it since she was fifteen, and that was human years, so she had lots of practice. She pulled down two glasses, filled them both with ice, and got with the mixing, meanwhile she thought about how to how to respond to Alec's question.

"Honestly... " She shrugged, still mixing the drinks together. "I'm not angry, if that's what you might be thinking. I already looked up to you as a father, and Dez has been my best friend for so long she's just like my sister... you just made it more official, while making me a hell of a lot faster than I could ever have dreamed of being - making me better able to protect myself and my girls. So... I'm alright with it all... dad."

She finished with the drinks, putting the last bottle back on the shelf where she got it from. She then slid him his glass with a grin. "Try it, you might like it.. it's meant to touch every taste-bud just right... though, it'd knock out almost any human who tried it in just a shot's worth..." She brought her own glass up to her lips, enjoying the mixed taste of the drink and the affect of the alcohol - not too much, but not too little either. A pleasant feeling that would stick around until her natural healing abilities booted it out of her system, and that was just after a sip.

The air around Alec started to fog up while he puffed away at his "Cigar." She was cool with it all, that was fine. Now it was about the girls and the club. Alec didn't have a problem assisting anyway he could. He flicked more ashes into the tray, then took the drink Demi mixed and shot it down. He felt the effects right away, and lowered the Healing Factor to let the effects linger longer, as with the bud. He nodded his head.

"That's not bad at all... So listen, Himitsu, that lady that used to be boss of that city you painted rainbows in and whatnot? I donno if you heard the story behind her or not, but she had Jr and Amaranth turn her back into a child, and she's an Angel too. I'm thinking she's gonna need some guidance on how to use her speed so she doesn't end up as a red stain on the side of one of these buildings around here, and I think that's something you're gonna wanna be in on. So keep an ear out for when I call, yeah?"

Demi's eyebrow shot up as she took another sip of her drink; Himitsu was a child again? Well... that was going to indeed be interesting if the pair ever met - if Himitsu even knew who she was anymore after all. She wasn't surprised to hear that Himitsu was an Angel though, she had known that Amaranth was trying to help her before she booted everyone off of her island for that storm, so it was only a safe bet to guess that she would have found some way to make up for it - plus the conversation when Amaranth was making Demi herself a full blooded angel. She hadn't questioned any of it because she'd been busy thinking about other things, but now it all made sense.

"Ah yeah, I'll definitely be looking forward to that. Dez's idea of helping me was kicking me off of the top of the tower and seeing what happens...", she said with a grin at his offer. She brought her glass back up to her lips, downing the rest of the contents of it before sitting the glass back down on the bar. She placed her hand on the bar, enjoying the woozy feeling that she could feel before her body's natural healing ability began to fix the problem.

"Does Himitsu remember everyone from before she got reverted back to a child? Like.. should I expect her to be pissed off at me or anything?", she turned her silver colored gaze to Alec as she asked curiously. She really didn't need any enemies with all that had gone on recently - things were looking up and becoming positive, and the last thing she wanted was to see all of that hard work to be for nothing at all.

"No...Jr rewinded her memories along with her body. She won't remember any of us, so no need to worry about hard feelings or anything like that..."

This was a nice place. Alec hoped it became a popular spot for this new generation he found himself in. He gave his new daughter a hug and a smooch on her cheek while rubbing her back. He too looked forward to teaching her a few things, just as he'd done with Destiny so long ago.

"Well, I just wanted to test out this new tunnel to the tower here, and have a look at the place. If you need me you know where I am..."

Alec opened the trap door and sank into it again, with it closing on it's own soon after...

So, she wouldn't have to worry about Himitsu being angry at her? Good to know, good to know indeed. She wanted to avoid drama as much as possible - God knew she was going to have to deal with her fare share in the business she had chosen to enter into, she didn't need any more than that.

She hugged Alec back and smiled with a nod. "I'll give ya a call if I need anything." She watched him leave and then mixed herself up another drink before heading up to her office, heading to go check and make sure all of the security cameras were operational before she went and opened the doors...
