Milk Tea!

Artemis would be lying if she didn’t feel some kind of way about being shut out of whatever was going on. Considering she knew Destiny had been killing people since she was five years old Artemis didn’t understand the over-protectiveness when it came to her. It made her feel like she was being treated like a child, which she no longer was. She’d come leaps and bounds since the arrival of Makkuragakure into this world when it came to learning about her new powers and she felt she was ready to partake in whatever mayhem was going down.

Since she wasn’t allowed to be involved she figured she’d leave Edge City altogether. She didn’t want to see glimpses of whatever was going on since that’d just be a tease, so she figured she’d head to Soubi Shigai instead; besides, that meant she could go get her favorite boba milk tea. Sure, she was feeling a bit salty over the whole ordeal, but she wasn’t going to dwell on it for too long, all she needed was a decent distraction. Then maybe she’d be able to calm down, sort through everything, and see it from a different perspective.

Soubi Shigai was one of her favorite places if she was being honest. The fact that people would willingly live on an active volcanic island amused her; living in constant danger, were they brave or just fools? The only reason Artemis wasn’t concerned about coming here was because if something went down and the thing erupted she could always just fly away, and was less likely to get hurt than the humans. Either way, she loved the culture and the unique market place it had. It made for some good shopping.

Landing in a more desolate place outside of the market, she glanced around to make sure she hadn’t been seen. While Soubi Shigai was known for having humans far more aware of the supernatural presences in the world she didn’t want some sort of fan club following her around. She stuck out enough with her extremely long hair and red eyes, she didn’t need to make it worse than that; besides, she could always pass off her eyes as contacts. Teenagers did weird shit, right? Adjusting her backpack strap on her right shoulder she turned and headed around the corner, making her way towards the market, the scents of all of the delicious foods it offered already reaching her nose. ”Milk tea, here I come!” Maybe she'd grab her drink and go find a nice place to relax so she could do some drawing. As if in afterthought Artemis did what she usually did when she went to a place not controlled by one of the members of her family; she created her usual escape route, a simple jutsu known as the body replacement technique that'd allow her to switch positions with an object if needed. Turning up her music, she'd continue to allow the headphones to rest on her shoulders...

"This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill, fifteen percent concentrated power of will, five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain, and one-hundred percent reason to remember the name..."

”Ah, the youngest Kane child.”, Zephyr muttered to herself as she watched the girl land on Soubi Shigai. While Zephyr’s plan was to start with Sunset Island those plans were still being worked out and she was itching to cause some trouble and mayhem. She’d already had Cala kill Devon, what was another blow? ”Time to stir the pot!”, Zephyr cackled to herself from her hidden location far away from everything. Focusing on her power of imagination manifestation a clone of Destiny Kane would be formed, looking precisely like Cala’s last memory of Destiny she had. After a quick check over her work to ensure it looked and sounded passable before teleporting Destiny into a dark and shadowy location on Soubi Shigai, controlling the clone like a puppet.

Clone Destiny would begin to make her way toward the market, looking to find her “little sister”. With hair up in a ponytail, Clone Destiny was dressed in a black t-shirt over top of which a bullet proof vest resided. Jeans and boots completed the look, along with a bag that held various weapons. Quick footsteps would bring her closer towards the market, Zephyr’s assumption being that was where Artemis was heading since she didn’t actually live on the island that Zephyr knew of.

Soubi Shigai’s market district seemed to always be busy, though its busiest time was in the morning. Thankfully, with it being nearing evening time it wasn’t too bad. The rush of people who would come to buy whatever things they needed for dinner had come and passed, and most people were at home enjoying whatever warm cooked meal they were having that night. Artemis knew it’d get busier later on when dinner time had come and passed, so she was going to take advantage of the lack of people now.

Glancing around with red colored eyes she found her favorite boba spot and headed in that direction. It was a market stall of sorts, like many of the market dwellings were, but it had a seating area nearby for customers of the various tea and food locations nearby. It was sort of a joint effort that was shared between them to help keep their customers happy. There was thankfully only a small line, so taking her place in the back of it behind an elderly gentleman Artemis waited patiently while staring at the menu, deciding what exactly she was going to have today so that she’d be ready to order when it was her turn.

The elderly man she was standing behind would glance back at Artemis and smile, “You younger folk really seem to like this boba tea stuff, huh? My granddaughter told me I should come here and try it while on vacation, but I’m not entirely sure what I want to get. There’s so much on the menu…”, he’d speak, his voice gruff but kind.

”Well, I think it depends on what kind of boba you want. There’s the sweet but chewy tapioca pearls. They’re good in milk teas; and you can flavor the milk with if you want to do that - strawberry is best in my opinion, but banana is also a good choice. Or, they’ve got the bursting boba’s. Those have juice in them and they’re good in fruit teas, or even lemonade.”, Artemis would suggest kindly, having no issues helping the elderly gentleman out.

“Thank you, young’un. I think I’ll go with a strawberry milk tea then. Can’t have lemonade, too much heartburn.”, the elderly gentleman would say before it came to be his time to order, placing his order for a strawberry milk tea with tapioca pearls in it.

Clone Destiny would arrive at the market district, silvery eyes glancing around at the world around her, which Zephyr could see as if it was herself there. It took only a brief few moments to spot Artemis, her silvery-white hair standing out. It seemed the young Kane was having a conversation with an elderly man while they waited in line at one of the shops. Clone Destiny would make her way in that direction, sporting the same speed the real Destiny would have. As she closed the distance a shotgun was pulled from the bag. By the time Dez would reach Artemis, a matter of less than a second, the shotgun would be aimed point blank at the back of her head.

“Hello, Arty.” Two words, hoping to cause the Kane child to turn around. Either way, Clone Destiny’s finger would immediately pull the trigger, firing a round point black at either the back of Artemis’ head, or her face if she were to turn around.

The old man’s order was about to be finished when the air stirred behind Artemis, revealing the sudden presence of someone. Precognition kicked in, immediately warning her of the danger - her sister, or rather that’s what the person looked like, was about to shoot her. Even as words were spoken towards her her preparation was in place. The moment the shotgun was fired Body Replacement Technique went into play, saving Artemis from mortal danger as she was replaced with a thick slab of steel she had prepared earlier.

As Artemis was essentially teleported back to where she’d originally landed a sort of clone would be left in place, nothing more than the slab of steel taking on her form briefly as it took the bullet point blank. A puff of smoke would appear as the clone of Artemis popped and revealed the steel which would have thankfully taken the shot rather than the old man standing in front of her.

While the spot Artemis would have appeared was hidden, she’d immediately put into play one of her abilities from her mother’s side; shadow manipulation. This was more than just controlling shadows however, she became one, an intangible being. She’d be able to move freely through the shadows now without disturbing them.

‘What the fuck?!’ Her own sister had just tried killing her? What the hell was going on? Did this have something to do with what Junior didn’t want her involved in? Thankfully, her position was hidden, and she wasn’t about to put herself in more danger. Going toe to toe against Destiny was suicide, her sister was faster than her. No, if this was going to be a fight she’d survive she’d have to think smart about it.

Time would just suddenly come to a standstill. Then, like a movie in rewind, it began to reverse. Artemis would be heard saying '?!kcuf eht tahW' before she would disappear, taking the place of the steel beam, and the bullet from the gun would travel back into the barrel.

This would be around the time a young man appeared, dressed in an Armani suit, white shirt and red tie. He wore D&G leather shoes. Jr had the Kane white hair, the back shaved with several designs but the top thick with long white strands slicked with grease. While causing time to return to normal, Jr would simply attempt to push the gun upwards, to avoid hitting anyone, right as she began to pull the trigger. No one would have any clue what just happened besides Artemis. To Zephyr, it would seem that Jr simply appeared out of thin air.

"...Be happy its me, and not my father," said Jr, should the push of the gun be successful. "He'd be cutting off your head about now. I want to know why though. Why a world in chaos, why my family, why my sisters. And stop looking like Dez, you don't want to piss me off."

Artemis had switched places, meaning the shot hit nothing but metal. Then, suddenly, it hadn’t happened at all. The gun was pushed upwards, the shot being fired into the air, hitting harmlessly into one of the buildings. Before Clone Destiny stood Junior, another of the Kane’s. The sudden appearance was surprising, but amusing to Zephyr nonetheless. Hearing the words spoken a cackle unlike anything that would come out of Destiny’s mouth would fill the air before the clone would shift and warp - this wasn’t Zephyr, but it at least looked like her: long black hair, deathly pale skin, wearing a dress from centuries past with violet colored eyes. Likewise, the weapons that had been there as Clone Destiny would vanish as well.

”Teehee! Why not? I’m bored.”, Zephyr’s clone would whine, pouting. ”As far as targeting your family, it’s nothing personal. You’re just simply the ones in charge, is all. Give it up to someone else and I’ll gladly attack them instead.” An insane giggle would follow. Whether or not Zephyr was telling the truth would be left to be seen, or perhaps she was just simply fucking with them entirely. Either way, this wasn’t over, as the Zephyr clone began to focus her attention on the volcanic island around. ”But, I don’t think you’re going to do that, no? Especially after Cala killed her sister for me.” Another giggle, this one even more unhinged than the last.

She’d got away from the attack, replacing herself with that slab of metal, but then suddenly everything was being rewound. Her own voice spoke backwards, then the jutsu was rewound, leaving Artemis standing back where she was before the technique had taken place, though entirely aware of exactly what had taken place. However, Junior was now there, as she’d been expecting when time began to be manipulated, lifting the gun so that when it was fired it hit a building rather than anyone around. She found herself facing this imposter that looked like her sister, but whom she didn’t believe was. Artemis’ assumption that this had to do with whatever Junior didn’t want her involved in came to fruition when he began to speak to this Destiny clone.

Meanwhile, as they conversed, something didn’t seem to sit right with Artemis… something felt wrong. Her precognition was telling her something bad would happen soon if it wasn’t stopped, and in preparation for whatever else this shit show was going to bring, she began to focus on her own power, ready to defend the island and the people on it - they were innocent in this whole situation. However, as her red gaze swept the world around her, it suddenly darted back to Zephyr as she mentioned Cala killing Devon. Devon was dead? What the absolute fuck? Yeah, Artemis was suddenly feeling bad about being a whiny little brat, but now was no time for that kind of conversation.

”If you’re bored you go play Uno, or Monopoly, read a book… you don’t fuck with people, and you certainly don’t pretend to be their family members and try and kill them you sick sycophant. Who raised you, lady?” Despite the fact that this woman had tried to kill her being more than enough reason to dislike someone, Artemis didn’t like her on the principle of what she’d just pulled. Trying to convince everyone Destiny had lost her shit, or turned traitor or something, just for her own amusement. She could only imagine what Dez was going to do if or when she found out, she kind’ve hoped she didn’t. Or well.. Dad for that matter. He’d probably lose his shit too.

"I doubt that's even really you considering you had to use a clone of my sister in the first place. You a coward, lady?", Artemis would ask, it might have been bratty of her, but she felt it was true. This woman seemed to be hiding a lot in the shadows, rather than doing any of this up front herself.

"...Bored."

Jr straightened out his tie, waiting for any sort of attack. If he knew his sister, she would probably be preparing something of her own. She went on a rant, probably trying to provoke her. Jr really didn't want to fight here in this city. All of the Kanes were known to make a mess when the fists started flying, and he didn't want to sour relations here given Edge's past history.

"...We just got finished settling differences with this city, i'm not gonna fight here," Jr said, his eyes still glowing a red color. "...This is the only warning i'm gonna give you. I know what you can do. Blowing up cities, causing plagues, killing thousands at a time? It won't fly in Edge. If you attack my niece's island?... Well, then its out of my hands. I'll be the least of your worries. Consider this your only pass, the next time there won't be any talking..."

Jr put a hand on his sister's shoulder and began to rewind, having to get her away from here as quickly as possible. He didn't want to risk a fight and leave Edge without a Boss for too long. The 2 of them would reverse into a portal that looked like a funnel in time and space, and once through it, the funnel disappeared, causing several ripples in reality.

/Exit unless prevented/

The younger Kane seemed to have some kind of mouth on her, all sorts of disrespect - almost like she was trying to pick a fight. Zephyr could only cackle. The girl was brave, or very stupid. She hadn’t made up her mind yet. Junior on the other hand didn’t seem to want a fight, talking about how they’d just settled differences with this city, and warning her about attacking Amaranth’s island. Boooorrriiiiing.

”Tch, this isn’t over… but another time, another place, eh? Let’s see how much fun we’ll have later.” Zephyr would allow them to leave, deciding to stick around Soubi Shigai for a little bit. Maybe she’d find some trouble to get in here before launching her bigger plan. She didn't want to reveal her cards quite yet, just these little bits of drama were interesting enough.

It seemed that her big brother really was trying to work on his temper, but what was this about this chick attacking Sunset Island? Was that the reason for all of the snow and black smoke? This woman was going to get herself destroyed. Whatever she thought would happen she certainly didn’t seem to understand who she was fully dealing with. The lack of explosions, rockets, and bullets told her that Destiny probably didn’t know yet, and she couldn’t help but to wonder how her sister was going to feel if she found out someone was pretending to be her. That probably wouldn’t go over too well.

Junior didn’t want to fight here on Soubi Shigai, and Artemis couldn’t help but to agree it was probably a bad idea. So far she had been allowed to come and go as she wanted, and thinking about it she didn’t want to ruin that and end up banned.

As Junior placed his hand on her shoulder she didn’t bother to shrug it off, she was willing to leave peacefully. Though, with what Zephyr seemed to be pulling, plus her own words, she was sure they’d end up seeing her again sooner or later. Surely time would tell, but for now she was just curious if they were heading back to Edge City or not, and if Junior was going to give her a talking to for getting into trouble so quickly after he told her to stay out of this: it wasn’t like she’d done it on purpose after all. She’d left and gone to get some tea and do some drawing…
