He ran through the seemingly endless urban landscape through the jungle of buildings, streets and traffic, sometimes taking giant leaps to sail through the air for long moments, either landing again to keep running, or to jump again. Spook was eager to get back home, though somewhere in the back of his mind, he was prepared for disappointment. Something kept telling him this wasn't real. This was a cruel joke that someone was playing. Or perhaps he was losing his mind.
He was still going to go see this for himself. So eventually Edge City began to thin out into suburbs and woodland, and soon after running top speed with the child on his back in a fashion that made him resemble a green blur, the huge metropolis was behind them. He remembered which way to run from glancing at the holographic map in Jr's office, so he was sure he was going in the right direction. This was confirmed when he entered the all too familiar surroundings of The Land of Fire, and then he knew that this was real and not just an illusion.
The gates were ahead; the same gates he used to jog around daily; the gates where he taught Mitsukai Spook Fu. Still expecting it all to vanish before his unbelieving eyes, Spook entered the village of Konoha...
