It was over; he was finished. He'd done what he'd needed; everyone was happy and healthy again, the problems where fixed. He was healthy, Demi was healthy, Nanalie was happy: all was well. The appeal of the city had long waned; he missed the beaches and trees and open spaces of his island home. More to the point; he missed his family; they had gone along ahead of him while he was off chasing a human in a cape and costume. Fuuuun.
From the tower compound he merely walked; human form blending in the crowds easily. Walk, walk, walk through the masses; until the city fell away and the ocean reappeared. A cliff face; one of the few around; a good point to start from. He leaped from the edge, perfectly at home in the air; not afraid of the fall at all. Shifting to his tiger form midair; he hit the water with an almighty splash and began to swim; a gentle pace compared to normal. He could have rushed; but the water was soothing; the clean salt air cleansed his mind and soul. A world without humans, demons, angelic creatures; monsters and masses and all the pollution and noise of the city. The place was wonderful for a short visit; but not much beyond that. He was a creature of the open wilds; the ancient lands that where fewer and far between with each coming day.
Long minutes into longer hours; past the gentle rain of the hovering storm; finally onto the beach. Paws leaving huge prints in the sand; he stood in the warm sun for a few moments; dripping wet and heavy with water. Inhaling the clean airs, letting the feel of his home wash the last of the city from his form and mind. Ah.... happiness.
One foot after the other; an easy pace; walk from the beach and to the treeline. It was time to find his family.
