You Seem Familiar... [Nova, or Invite][NR]

Ka'lara had really been getting a reputation around Zero Sum as the head bartender, and her own little private joke was that she could really see herself making a career out of this - if only she were old enough to actually legally be doing it. Not that anyone but Demi knew what her real age was, or who she really was... well, her and her friends.

But, she wasn't bartending this evening, or, she wasn't anymore. She was situated against the black brick wall, standing in the side alley by where the back kitchen door, one of the emergency exits in case of a fire, were. Her long black coat was open, since the nightly chill didn't bother her much anymore, revealing the purple and blue stripped sweater dress she wore underneath, black leggings, and black combat boots - her outfit hiding most but not all of the full body tattoo. She was staring up at the night sky with red eyes, her gaze fixated on a shooting star that was moving rapidly across the sky.

The swollen moon cast dim light into the otherwise light-less back alley, but the darkness didn't scare her. She had learned quickly that she could blend into the darkness as well as anyone else if she wanted to - and that the darkness wasn't as scary as everyone made it out to be.

She began to whistle a slow and yet happy tune, continuing to stare up at the sky...

So, this was Zero Sum? It didnt seem bad. He didnt believe that Demitria was the type of person to allow such activities to exist in a place that she owned, but who was he to argue with what made money? Personnally, he had no use for money; Nova saw it as only creating mass confusion when no one actually owned the things they paid so much money for. Besides.. Money was easily faked.

Screw fake money.

Silver eyes scanned over the outside of the building from across the street; he would have been an odd sight if anyone could have seen him; skin stretched taunt over his skeletal frame. Black hair hair hanging from his skull in a tangled mess. He was still wearing the same robe bottoms and pants that he'd had on when he'd talked to Amaranth, not that anyone would care, nor notice. But why? The 'special' ability of his branch of the Kane family, the ability to 'stealth' with such conviction that one literally vanished from all sights and senses, making it seem as if one was never there to begin with. It also helped that he was an angel, a creature that was already gifted with tremendous speed.

Not that these mattered right now; he was not fighting anyone. Nova himself avoided people out of habit. He found most of them, humans and supernaturals, to be highly annoying. He dealt with people only when he had no choice; he'd much rather tinker with a new gadget or toy.

What was this? Someone in the alley off to the side? Nova tilted his head, peering at the figure in the shadows. Was this someone whom meant his sister harm? Only one way to find out, and that was to go over there. He wouldnt interact with her for the moment, unless she proved to to be interesting enough...

Stealth:

'So much noise...'

Even in her office she could feel it; the constant vibration of noise and movement from the guests within her building. It was a club after all, it was supposed to be active; if it wasn't then she wouldn't make money, would she? But good Lord, sometimes it proved to be just a little too much. So from time to time, like now, she found the urge to slip out the kitchen door and into the cool darkness of the night of the alley way.

Her silvery gaze fell on the female already outside as the club's door closed behind her, instantly blocking out all of the sound from the music inside - soundproofed walls and doors were lovely with keeping the neighbors happy, and a grin spread across her face as Demi leaned on the wall nearby, giving the female some space. "Ka'lara! My favorite bartender! Did you need a break from the noise, too?"

She looked around as she waited for the female's answer, eyes lingering on the darkness before her gaze slipped up to the nearby rooftops. Perhaps she was being paranoid, or perhaps she just found too many reasons to be cautious with her brain no longer occupied by mass distractions, but she found herself being far more careful than she used to be.

Red gaze flickered sideways to take in Demitria's sudden appearance. She blinked, still not used to being addressed so much by her middle name, but quickly shook it off and nodded. A soft smile slipped across her features and she turned her red gaze back up to the sky; taking note out of the corner of her eye as Demi looked around in what Ka'lara could only think was a rather paranoid sort of way.

"Yeah, needed a break from the noise... and all of that perfume. I don't know why they feel the need to bathe in it like that...", she said with a grin.

She then turned her red gaze back to Demi, noticing that her star had moved to where she could no longer see it with the building blocking her view. "No offense, but you're looking a bit paranoid there... you okay?" She knew who Demi had been in the other dimension, and perhaps it was that, or maybe the fact that Demi was the first person to extend a hand of help since she had got here, but Ka'lara found herself feeling almost... protective, over the female.

Well, wasnt this a lovely suprise? Just the woman he'd come to see. A smile cross the half-breed's face. He broke into a quick sprint, slipping past the traffic on the road and weaving through the patrons outside the club as if they were standing still. As he came upon the duo, he stopped on a dime, and allowed his form to materialize before them.

"Demitria.. how are you?"

Most likely, his appearance would throw her off; it had been quite some time since they'd last been together. Hopefully, she didnt forget the sound of his voice, despite the slight deepening. But this other female? He expect a full on freak out, complete with a 'what the fuck is that hideous thing?" moment and expression.

Note to self; eat before going out into public next time.

Almost as if on cue, his stomach rumbled, forcibly reminding him that he needed to eat still.

What. The. Fuck.

Her silvery gaze snapped to the male upon his arrival, her body bracing for an attack... only, then she relaxed. The whole thing taking only a single second. The voice gave him away, and she found herself rolling her eyes. "Trying to give me a heart attack?" She pushed lightly off of the black brick wall and walked slowly around him.

She reached a single pointer finger out and lightly poked him on the arm. "Well.. I was okay. But now I have the sudden urge to shove a burger and fries in front of you and then sit there and make sure you eat it all... You look like you're wasting away."

She then glanced to Ka'lara, figuring she might as well explain things so that the female wasn't confused... or attack-happy. She could remember oh to well how quick she was to jump into a fight in the other dimension. "Ka'lara, this is my brother Nova. Nova this is Ka'lara."

She glanced back to Nova and then to Ka'lara. "Actually, I think I'm going to go feed that urge to make sure you eat something." She opened the door to the kitchen, which was empty since it was getting closer to closing time. "Inside, come on...Let's get you something to eat." She motioned for both of them to enter, figuring that Ka'lara might as well get to know someone else so she wasn't so alone in the city, especially since she heard Nova was staying on the island that Ka'lara called home.

Ka'lara's own body remained relaxed as the male appeared, but she became ready in a moments notice to jump in front of Demitria if the male decided to attack. He looked like something out of a nightmare to her, but that didn't cause her to shy away or show any sort of fear. Nope, too many years of training and feeding inner rage tended to block out the ability to feel or show fear.

However, she realized that jumping in front of Demitria wouldn't be necessary as the male spoke to her, calling her by name, and then Demitria responded, and even reached out and touched him. Ka'lara folded her arms across her chest and remained silent until she was introduced. She gave a nod of her head in greeting. "Hello."

A brow rose as she watched Demitria then open the door, ushering them inside. She shrugged lightly and walked into the kitchen, glad to see that it was empty. She sat herself on one of the few stools available at the counter - since the kitchen also served as a kitchen for the staff.

Nova couldnt help but grin; somethings didnt change, no matter species. "Though I'm not gonna turn down the offer, I'm still obligated by pride to say that I'm fine." He grinned at Demitria and offered Ka'lara a small nod of hello. Following the ladies inside, he glanced around at the setup of the kitchen; it seemed appropriate enough. Not that he knew anything of running a club, nor how to operate a kitchen. No, his meals normally consisted of the vitae and souls of those whom were unfortunate to attempt cross him.

"Beyond the impending heart attack, how have you been, dear? I've heard about the issues that have befallen you... but I'm sad to say that I could not have been by your side." Those silver eyes flickered violet as he smiled again, head tilting. "So please... tell me from your mouth: how do you feel?"

Demi busied herself in the kitchen as she thought about what Nova had asked her. It took a moment for her to respond, in which time she put a large amount of fries into one of the four deep fryers, and then started his burger; which was rather huge.

"I dunno really... It's still all confusing. The worst part though is the fact that I don't have all of the distractions running through my brain like I used to to keep my mind off it all. It's just me in there now... and I'm my own piss poor company."

She turned, leaning her hip against the counter as she folded her arms across her chest and looked at Nova. "I mean.. I'm fast... fast as hell really. Not as strong as I used to be, but I'm working on that with Dez... " She shrugged lightly. "I suppose I'm still me though, no one can change that. I still feel the need to cause chaos and trouble from time to time.", she said, grinning.

She turned back to the stove as her grin faded; flipping the hamburger over. "I dunno.. it's just been kind of lonely though. I mean... I have Dez, and Alec, and Spook's running around here too... but going from constantly having some sort of noise or some shit in my head to nothing? That's... something I dunno if I'll ever get used to." She paused, one of those moments of raw honesty showing as she said, "It's... almost kind of scary, honestly." She removed the burger from the heat, and then pulled the golden brown fries out of the fryer. She made his hamburger and poured the salted fries onto the plate before sticking it in front of him on the counter.

Ka'lara remained silent as she listened to the two speak. In fact, she busied herself with spinning repeatedly around on the spinning stool. It was fun, and it kept her distracted. She wasn't quite so awkward or out of place around the conversation to not know what was going on - she had had an extensive conversation with Demi just a few days ago. But, it was their family time, and she wasn't going to intrude on it.

So, she kept herself quiet and momentarily distracted. After a moment her eyes even took on a glazed expression as she sunk into her own mind, creating from scratch some sort of new alcohol beverage to try making for her customers the next time she worked a shift.

Hm. He'd figured this was what she was gonna say. The solution was simple. "I.. could give you access to the cobweb once more, if you'd like." The smile returned to his face as he settled himself into a chair and began to scarf down the burger and fries in front of him. As he ate, his body worked itself into overclock, draining every last bit of engery from the food as it passed from his mouth to his stomach. And as the food was rapidly broken down, his body began to fill out, bring the male back to his normal visage.

He was quiet as he ate, giving his sister plenty of time to think over his offer. The process would be relatively simple; an exchange of blood from him to her. There were few drawbacks to the process, ranging from her body outright rejecting the transfer and building an immunity to it, or, her body accepting what it once was, at least, in the sense of energy. Her DNA was different now, was it not?

It could be done, right? Nova reasoned that since he himself shared partial DNA with Demi, her's from Alec and his own from Alec's younger brother, Nevan, it was possible.

"The best of the worst case... you'll be sick for a bit as your body fights off what it precieves as an infection. But, that depends on your healing factor. Otherwise, you might just accept it, and intergrate it back into yourself, seeing as my blood is partially the same as Maxi's... as well as very similar to Alec's. Or, I could be completely wrong, and this will cause some kind of insane dimensional collapse that will send us all spiralling into the belly of a star going supernova. It all depends on who's watching and how much of a dick they feel like being."

Demitria paused in her clean up routine at Nova's words, an eyebrow raising as she glanced over to him. The offer was a nice one... but was it worth it? So many people had been playing God recently when it came to doing things for Demitria, and so far nothing had backfired, so what if something did this time? What if this was, as shot number three, the straw that broke the proverbial camels back?

As she thought about her answer to Nova she wandered over to the giant freezer with a few plates, a wickedly sharp knife, and some forks. She disappeared behind the freezer door, cutting into something in a large white box. She returned a moment later with pieces of cake on three separate plates. She placed one down by Ka'lara, one down by Nova, and then took a chair nearby and took a bite of her own as she continued to think over the offer.

"That's a tempting offer..." She dug her utensil back into the cake and speared off another bite before popping it into her mouth, and savoring the flavors of the cake. "But... maybe we should wait a little bit? I mean... I'd rather not risk one or both of us being killed... There's been a lot of 'playing God' going on with me recently, I think we need a bit of a break... Last thing I want is to start being hit by lightning like Dez used to over swearing... Pains not such an enjoyable experience anymore...", she said, chuckling.

She then felt the familiar vibration in her pocket as her phone went off. She fished the thing out of her pocket and read the text for a moment before sending a short response back. She looked first to Ka'lara and then to Nova, "You two might want to stick around. Amaranth just text me, she has something she wants to give the pair of you... and a job apparently for you, Nova." She speared another bite of her cake and popped it into her mouth.

Ka'lara blinked at the cake sat before her. She couldn't remember the last thing she ate after that piece of pizza, but she wasn't going to knock it. She picked up her fork and speared her own decent sized piece before popping it into her mouth. She continued to remain quiet, focusing on her cake as she ate it.

She listened to the two converse, not really paying much attention up until Demi said that Amaranth wanted to speak to both herself and Nova. She looked up from her plate, an eyebrow lifting up in quiet curiosity. She had no idea why the Boss of Sunset Island wanted to speak to her, but she'd stick around to find out. She was sure she hadn't done anything trouble-worthy, so she figured she wasn't about to be yelled at.

She gave a nod in response and just took another bite of her cake, chewing the thing up - and taking a brief note of the lack of a brain freeze from how fast she was eating the ice-cream cake..

Hm. Amaranth wanted to speak to him..? That was fine.

"I'll go have a chat with her after this." He grinned, spearing up a bite of the cake and placing it into his mouth. He groaned a bit; it has been quite some time since since he'd had sweets. He swallowed, and burst out giggling, relishing in the sweet taste on his tongue. "I wonder what it is, though. I just spoke to her before I came here.."

Something important must have come up if she wanted to speak to him so soon after leaving. Perhaps it was best to go sooner than later? "Did she say where she was?" The fork was placed on the plate as eyes searched around for something to put cover the cake with; he damn sure wasnt about to leave this cake behind. "I don't mean to eat and run, but perhaps I should go see.."

A giggle announced her otherwise silent and unseen arrival; perks of being part spirit. The giggle echoed through the kitchen followed by the distinct sound of locks turning on the doors - she didn't want to reveal herself and some adult or something come wandering in after all, it didn't look good to have a child in a place such as a club... Bad for business and all of that fun stuff.

"No need to eat and run, I'm here."

Words spoken before her form faded into view - though it remained intangible. She looked to Demi, then to Ka'lara, and finally to Nova. "I just forgot something is all before I had to leave."

"Well, actually I forgot two things.", new words spoken, but they were by no means out loud as she put her telepathy to use. She didn't want everyone to hear the first part of this conversation since it was meant for Nova only. "I have a job for you... a favor really. I don't know if you've noticed or not but Ka'lara is not only part Angel but part Demon. From what I undertand she has no idea about this - I only know because I could sense it when she first arrived on Sunset Island. So.. that means she's packing a bunch of strength and speed she doesn't know about... and from what I know from when I merged with Mitsukai, well... she has a nasty quick temper when it comes to certain things. I want to ask you to keep a close eye on her... make sure nothing bad happens. She's already suffering the loss of her twin, so I don't see it taking much to cause her to snap. Can you do that for me?"

And now it was time for part two of the reason why she came here. "So, recently my island gained something I call the Baby Dead Zone, and with this phenomena certain things don't work... at all. Mostly it's higher powers, but it also affects teleporting anywhere on my island, time manipulation, any sort of block to precognition abilities... all of that fun helpful stuff. But, there's a way around it..."

She lifted her hand as her form finally solidified. In her right hand floated an intricate rune which gave off a faint glow blue. "If I put this on your body it allows you to get around the Baby Dead Zone... it also links me with you and vice versa. I'll know if you're alright just like you'll know if I am, and we'll know where each other are no matter where we are.... I want to give all three of you the rune, if you want it...All you need to do is tell me where you want it, it'll look like a tattoo once on you."

Telepathically she added to Nova, "If you accept doing this favor for me you'll find that your rune will also link you like that with Ka'lara and vice versa... it'll also keep a telepathic link open between the pair of you as well, so you'll be able to sense her emotions.. it's blockable of course, but there nonetheless."

She waited, wondering what Nova and Ka'lara would say in regards to this.

Demi blinked at Amaranth's familiar sounding giggle which announced her before she could even be seen. She simply chuckled and shook her head, having been about to reply to Nova when the young girl arrived. She glanced to the doors as she heard the locks click into place and then she went back to eating her cake, which was almost gone.

She had to admit that things tasted differently between what they had when she was a vampire and what they did now; but cake was still as delicious as ever. So, she simply ate in silence as she listened to Amaranth explain about the baby Dead Zone and the rune that got her around it. She found it hard to believe that someone as young as Amaranth was could come up with something so intricate and powerful... but then again, she had two very powerful parents. Still, she was impressed regardless.

Demi gave a nod and a grin. "Sign me up! Dunno where you should put mine though... " She amused herself for a moment, thinking about where it was she wanted it... pondering about having Amaranth put it on the side of her neck...

Her red colored gaze shot sideways as she heard the giggle clear as day and used the direction of the sound to figure out where the person who she otherwise couldn't see was. The sound was child-like to her ears, but that didn't cause her to relax her guard - Mitsukai was proof enough that children were just as dangerous as adults... but, she didn't have long to fret as she watched Amaranth reveal herself - the spitting image of Mitsukai.

She speared another bite of cake and popped it into her mouth, continung to be silent as the conversation went on around her. She didn't like butting in to things that didn't affect her but she soon found that this particular topic did. Especially as Amaranth mentioned giving her a rune. She couldn't think of anything she had done to deserve such power just being given freely to her, but she must've done something pretty impressive. Or, perhaps it was simply because since Amaranth had merged with Mitsukai they 'knew' each other in a way, and maybe that in itself was enough.

However... there was the issue of where to put the rune. Given her full body tattoo she was pretty covered everywhere with the design. "I accept the offer, no idea where you should put it though. I'm rather covered from head to toe in my tattoo." She speared another bite of cake and popped it into her mouth.

Nova nodded in response to both offers, a small smirk spreading on his face. "I'll take it." Hands moved to gather his hair, lifting it up to expose his neck and upper back. "Right there, please, between the shoulder blades." It was easy; he had nothing to hide, but it would be easier to hide the tattoo from his own OCD.

But Amaranth was giving him a mission to keep an eye on this girl? Perhaps there was more to her than meets the eye. Was she a transformer? Some sort of robot in the guise of a human? No, she was ninja; Ninjas couldnt be robots. Univeral laws and such. Nature wouldnt allow something like that to exist. Not without warning Nova, at least.
