Ah the rich district, a place where everyone was better than you and nobody ever had any problems. Astalan could feel the greed and the gluttony that surrounded this place. He watched the clean and mostly quiet areas from his bench, sitting invisible and waiting to find something to do when he heard a woman scream for help. He quickly got to his feet and became visible once more, running up to her and seeing what was wrong. He quickly noticed that there was a house on fire but she told him that there were still people inside. While this city might be a corrupt hellhole, Astalan couldn’t just sit by and let an innocent person burn to death. He burst through the front door of the house, running at full speed and putting a large amount of force behind it, easily destroying the door, and made his way to attempt to find the people locked inside. He had to imagine that they were upstairs as he couldn’t hear anything downstairs and were they downstairs he imagined they would have been able to escape.
He scanned the area as the flames licked around him, not bothering the angel as he was able to control the fire. Had he wished too he could have probably put out the fire himself, but that wasn’t why he was here. He used his power over the elements to move the flames away from where he was walking and to clear rooms in his search, but it wasn’t until he heard a feint voice yelling from upstairs that his suspicions were confirmed. He looked for the stairs but didn’t think he would be able to find them in time and that’s when he decided to do something that he very rarely did. He stood in lace as two massive black feathered wings formed on his back, spreading to their full span and propelling him through the roof of the room he was in and the severly weakened floor of the room above him, happy that there hadn’t been anything else for him to crash through. He sped through the walls of the house until he got to where the coughing could be heard and found that there were two young girls in the room, one of which seemed to be unconscious but Astalan could see was still alive, and the other who was faintly holding onto consciousness. She looked at him wide eyed and began stammering in a weak voice; “Are you a..a..a..”
“Hush little girl, save your breath. I am an Angel, sent here by God to protect you and your sister…” He smiled to her and a small smile crossed her lips as he scooped the two girls into his arms and wrapped his wings around them before barrelling out of the window so that he was back out into the night sky. Once he was through the window he spread his wings once more and glided to the ground below, handing the girls to the woman who had earlier asked him for his help. She stared at him too shocked to speak and he smiled to her, patting both of the girls on the head. “Take care of these girls until the firemen arrive, and please get ahold of their mother. Don’t let anything else happen to them tonight…” She simply nodded, too shocked by what she had just seen to say anything, and he smiled once more and flew into the sky a ways before turning invisible once more and landing by his bench, allowing his wings to vanish as he took his seat once more and continued to observe the world, feeling as though he had done a good thing.
