Upgrades? Yes, I Make Those [Open]

Devon was seated in the technology enhanced recliner in front of her new desk; she was bent forward slightly with one hand working feverously across a page that barely had any space left to write - calculations of gravity, weight, and how much repulsion would be needed to keep someone up in the air for a long period of time. It was one of the new upgrades that had just popped into her head while she had been sitting there taking in the fact that not only had she been accepted into the Company, but she had been given a pendant, the rank of General, and put in charge of the R&D department.

For now the only sound from her was the constant scratching of the pencil against the paper; her other hand supporting her head while she worked. The whole idea behind this new calculation she was working on was to allow anyone wearing the boots she created, in this current case that being Amaranth, to be able to fly for short periods of time via a charging system that would charge up the needed energy to create enough repulsion to keep the user air born. Of course, she had to calculate in Amaranth's estimated weight, the weight of her clothing and weapons, how much wind resistance she might have to face... it was going to be a while before this new upgrade was ready to be put into use, but she was determined to see the idea to the end...

Devon paused in her work and stared down at the paper, double checking everything to ensure she didn't get anything wrong in the calculations she was making. Once satisfied that everything was good she continued on, her pencil once more making a scratching sound as it moved across her paper.

Several minutes later she stopped again and stared down at her now completed work. With the calculations done she turned to the computer in front of her. She pulled up one of many programs, this one being a simulation program, and began to enter all of the data and calculations she had written down. It took several minutes but soon she was finished. A mouse click later and she watched a three dimension stick figure appear on the screen in front of her and begin to move...

She watched the computer screen carefully; watching as the calculations she had entered caused the stick figure to begin to lift up into the air. The stick figure hovered there for several minutes while a little timer in the corner clocked it. After the stick figure reached the mark of four minutes and thirty two seconds it began to lower towards the bottom of the screen: which showed that the repulsion was beginning to wear off slowly instead of all of a sudden which she had been worried about.

The timer continued to tick down and as it hit five minutes solid the stick figure lowered again. By the time another thirty seconds went by the stick figure landed and the simulation ended. It meant that with her calculations anyone wearing the boots would have a solid four minutes and thirty seconds of flight at roughly one hundred feet in the air, an additional thirty seconds of flight at seventy five feet in the air, and then an additional thirty seconds after that of flight at fifty feet in the air before they would be forced to land. She knew that these calculations were of course at the max of charging; and knew that they would be shorter time periods for a less amount of charge.

She ran the simulation once more, double checking the time that everything took to make sure it had been right the first time. When she saw that the time markings were the same she pulled out the next program that would actually transfer the information to the boots... Meanwhile, while that was uploading, she turned to the ear-piece she knew Amaranth still wore and started to work on hacking into the communications feed so she could inform her of what she was about to do...

It only took a few minutes for Devon to successfully hack into Amaranth's wireless communicator.; afterward not only did she become capable of communicating with Amaranth but capable of hearing everything that Amaranth could hear. However, Devon didn't speak up just yet as she picked up on a situation going on in the background; the last thing she wanted to do was startle Amaranth during something like that.

So, she started working on hacking into the sunglasses she had given Amaranth; yet again this didn't take long at all since she had created the things. Within seconds she was capable of now seeing everything that Amaranth could see so long as she kept the sunglasses on. Devon turned on a fresh monitor and after severl keystrokes on yet another keyboard she dedicated that monitor to the sunglasses; keeping the screen tuned to what Amaranth was seeing this way she could watch everything while continuing to work. If anything she now could be considered Amaranth's gaurdian angel of sorts.

Devon glanced to the upload screen which was flashing with a green light; the upload was complete and Amaranth could now fly: time to let her knew what was going on. Speaking into the headset built into her high-tech recliner, "Don't jump, it's Devon. I hacked into your wireless communicator so that I can let you know what's going on. I also hacked into the sunglasses so that as long as you have them on I can see everything that you can see; like your little guardian angel of sorts I suppose. I wanted to let you know that I upgraded your boots. The longer you use them the more charge they begin to take; after several minutes you'll be able to use the repulsion for long periods of time which will grant you the ability to fly. The max time is a total of five minutes, but after about four you'll begin to lower. I also wouldn't go above one hundred feet unless you're going straight up because it becomes harder to control the higher you go. I've also upgraded them to work the opposite way, it'll allow you to walk or run up walls, slick surfaces, and even move upside down if needed."

"Telling someone not to jump doesn't exactly indicate they're not going to do so, Devon. Interesting to know you were able to hack my communicator though... and I'm assuming you upgraded it since I'm able to hear you so clearly while you're in Edge. I'll keep the upgrade in mind, thanks. I'm sure being able to fly, even if it's only for a brief period of time, will come in handy. An extra set of eyes and ears will help too - especially since you're safely in Edge and can do all of this from the safety of the tower; don't be afraid to tell me if there's something you think I missed..." , Devon heard Amaranth reply clearly.

Devon grinned and leaned back in her chair; this all was going to come in handy, she was sure of it. She also was going to be keeping an eye on anything that Amaranth might miss while searching all of these houses for supplies; she was right after all, an extra set of eyes never could hurt. She shifted comfortably and picked up the bottle of water she had ignored up until this point. She unscrewed the cap and took a swig of it. She watched through Amaranth's eyes what she was seeing while thinking about another upgrade she could start working on... Devon wanted to be as helpful as she possibly could after all.
