Associations Amphibians are associated with great number of mystical and supernatural abilities and connections in mythology and folklore, thus user with this power may have access to: Salamander: Fireproof Skin/Fire Absorption
- Poison Generation:
The power to create/generate variety of poisons. Sub-power of Poison Manipulation, variation of Organic Generation.
Also Called Poison Emission/Secretion Toxigenesis Toxin Generation/Emission/Secretion Venom Generation/Emission/Secretion
Capabilities User can generate, create, emit or otherwise produce poison/poisonous substance and somehow inflict the victim. For the sake of clarity: poison, toxin and venom are terms for any substance that injures the health or destroys life when absorbed into the system: poison is the general word, toxin is a poison produced by an organism (plant, fungus, animal); it is especially used in medicine in reference to disease-causing bacterial secretions, venom is especially used of the poisons secreted by certain animals, usually injected by bite or sting.
Variations Poison can be spread by: Bite, claws or stinger. Miasma Emission to create toxic fumes. Poison Breath Poisonous Blood Poisonous Touch inflicts the poison by either victim or user touching the other, this is common defense method.
Effects may be: Acid Generation for those that use poison to hunt: it starts the digestion process. Death Inducement Paralysis Inducement
Associations Chemistry Manipulation Enhanced Immunity is vital. Organic Generation Poison Manipulation Toxikinetic Combat poison in combination of physical combat. Venomous Claws/Venomous Fangs
Limitations May activate during stress unconsciously and unwillingly. User may not be able to create from surroundings. Can be contained by opponent depending on method. Poison Immunity grants immunity.
- Fire Manipulation:
The power to generate, manipulate and/or absorb fire. The opposite power of Ice Manipulation, and Water Manipulation.
Also Called Agnikinesis Firebending Fire Release Flame Control/Manipulation Pyrokinesis Ignikinesis
Capabilities Users can excite or speed up an object's atoms, increasing their thermal energy making it ignite, not necessarily objects, but also air particles. They can control and move the flames, including the shape, heat and even color; that said, pretty much everything with this power comes down to burning. This ability is also useful against those who possess Air Manipulation or Oxygen Manipulation as oxygen from the air can be used to make flames stronger. This is very aggressive power as well as one of the strongest, allowing several powerful attacks, but it is some ways the most vulnerable as well, given than fire doesn't exist in itself and needs other elements.
Applications Create, Absorb, Generate and Manipulate Fire of various intensities. Burn/melt objects such as ice or metal, as well as living things. Cause burning pains and actual burns in others. Firestorm Creation Fire Attacks Fireproof Skin and/or Thermal Resistance Flame Solidification Pyrokinetic Constructs, including weapons, walls, armor or allies/servants.
Techniques Burning Explosive Fire Manipulation Fire Aura Fire Empowerment Fire Mimicry Incineration Healing Fire Pyrokinetic Combat Thermal Manipulation for more general temperature manipulation. Body Heat Camouflage Heat Manipulation Heat Transferal
Associations Ash Manipulation Combined with Earth Manipulation, may allow Magma Manipulation. If high enough level and/or combined with Magic, may advance to Cosmic Fire Manipulation and/or Smoke Manipulation smoke always follows the flame. Soot Manipulation
Limitations Control is extremely important. Unconscious use of this power can be catastrophic. Users can be overpowered by Water Manipulation, Water Generation, Ice Manipulation and/or Freezing. General Description: - Human Form:
Standing 6'4, Houjin tends to enjoy a somewhat less obstructed view of the world then most. For his clan he is about average in terms of size; neither short nor noticeably tall and roughly in the middle of the spectrum in terms of weight and build. His physiology is more lean then muscular; but what muscle mass he has is enough for him to function perfectly well as a clan blacksmith; he is more then capable of swinging a hammer for days on end. While seemingly brightly colored to a human's sensibility, he is rather drab compared to some of his cousins; simple dark oranges and reds with hints of lighter yellow blonde in his hair and dark red eyes less conspicuous then some humans out there. His favored clothing is even less fascinating; simple loose pants and a sleeveless vest worn open, both solid black with red trim and a red sash tied at his waist to hold his pants up. Over this, a midnight black cloak that hangs behind him most of the time; which he can wrap around his body and pull a hood over his head when he needs to hide his body from sight. The material of his clothing and cloak are nothing special; a blend of fabrics that are highly flame retardant, so that they are not burned away by his naturally high body temperature. He also has a set of leather gloves that he keeps stored in a hidden pocket of his pants; which he only wears when dealing with creatures not immune to his heat or poisonous touch; or when working with a hammer and forging items for his people. The only truly outstanding feature of his human form is something shared with his entire race; what would seem to the outside world to be a charred swath of skin wrapping around his body in an oddly serpentine pattern. This is a quirk of his racial transformation; what you are actually seeing is his natural skin not fully hidden. If you are close enough, or his internal fires burn hot enough, cracks of bright red can be seen in the charred areas, giving it the appearance of lit coals or the fresh crust of a lava flow which still shows the flowing fire contained. The only other real quirk in this form are thin, almost invisible red lines on both sides of his neck; the markings for where his gills would be in his other form.
- Salamander Form:
Monstrous to the outside world, at 18 ft long and a hair over 6ft tall at the shoulders, Houjin is actually on the small side for his race. Most tend to be several feet longer and taller, and significantly heavier. This rarely bothers the male, he realizes he is still quiet young and may eventually catch up to the rest of his people; but even if he doesn't he isn't too worried. His people care little for size, they aren't warriors in the classic sense, nor do they have any compulsion to engage in any kind of size comparisons outside making sure their children are healthy once hatched. In this form he is a typical example of his race coloration wise; his skin is pitch black with red overtones, with patches of brighter yellows and oranges that act as a personal finger print of sorts; no two salamanders have the same patterns. Smoke and flames continuously erupt along his spine; as well as a haze of smoke and embers wafting from his gill structure. His paws are very similar to a human's hand; however each digit is tipped with a single curved claw that can be coated with his natural poison if needed. Also coated in poison is the row of teeth just inside his mouth; each tooth similar to that of a shark and containing a hallow tube through the center through which poison can be channeled into a bite wound. Hidden just inside his throat is a special tube, normally collapsed and hidden against his throat wall, which when opened and extended into his mouth itself can be used to fire a blob of poison directly from the glands in his throat. The flesh over his skull is thicker then anywhere else on his body; forming a natural helmet of sorts that protects his brain from strikes, as well as giving him an additional edge and protection when ramming something with his head.
About You: History: The day of his birth was nothing special; he was hatched just like any other of his race; his egg nestled safely in the burning coals of a giant bonfire along with dozens of other potential children in waiting. Neither the first, nor the last to hatch, he was somewhere on the earlier side of the middle range; roughly 10th born out of a clutch of 27 eggs in that particular fire. This left him in one of the better positions; the 'strongest' of the hatchlings, those born first, had already been taken away to be trained as the dedicated guardians and protectors of the clan; while still being able to live a life not filled with manual labor like the weakest hatchlings. When you where born decided what you did in life; he was lucky enough to be born just right to have a life of comfort and the chance to be more then a mindless soldier or uneducated worker. Not long after his birth, one of the clan's master smiths took a liking to him, choosing to take him on as an apprentice of his crafts. Trained to work metal like a master he quickly grew to love his new life; finding that working with metals and being able to repair the gear and tools of the clan made him popular and well liked; and helped to stem the tide of problems normally caused by being undersized. His clutchmates never bothered to tease him, knowing as they did that they would have to come to him eventually to have new tools or repairs. His work was hard, but his life overall was easy enough. As he grew older, like many of his peers, he developed a sort of teenage wanderlust; something much of the race experiences when they reach the age of 40 or so. Considered perfectly normal; he was allowed to leave without issue; taking only his hammer and the clothing on his back with him as he set out to learn about the world. His travels took him far and wide across the continent; although he never did manage to make it across the oceans to the other lands of the world. This never much bothered him; he was able to learn much and found many new masters to hone his arts under. While he spends much of his time near his clan's mountain home; he has yet to officially return to them, preferring the measure of freedom being a wanderer has given him. His thirst of travel has waned greatly recently; he is no longer a young teenager; finally moving out of that stage of life and starting to crave a stable home once more. Whether that leaves him with his clan or not he has not decided as of yet; continuing to search for new masters to train under and learning of the outside world for as long as he can. | |
