Fed Up [Amaranth, Demi, Invite][NR]

He'd told them once before, "Your family is my family." He was about to actually make this reality. If Maxi wasn't going to be there for the girl even after all of the shit she'd suffered, then Alec was going to take his place. What right did he have to get mad about what Alec was about to do when he wasn't here? A whole month's worth of work, botched because of him. A daughter wanting her father in her life and the lives of his grandchildren.

Well, he never had to worry about this again. Alec, his arm still around Demi's shoulders, lead the girl down through the complicated process of opening many doors to reach Amaranth's lab. This was his first time here in person, but he knew his way perfectly already as if he'd lived here for years.

"Grand Baby. I need to ask you to do something for me."

Demitria was still just along for the ride so to speak. She went through the complicated entrance process with Alec to Amaranth's lab. She had been in the lab from time to time, especially since while she had been staying on Amaranth's island she had offered her a room here to sleep and live in; she just hadn't used it often with the fact that she came and went so much.

She looked between Alec and Amaranth, wondering what Alec was going to ask her to do, and what was going on; however she wasn't exactly worried - knowing Alec wouldn't do anything to hurt her - just completely curious: the Malkavian in her making it twenty times worse than it already was.

Amaranth had been standing in front of a large tank filled with a light green colored liquid; and which held one of many experiments - this one was almost like some sort of baby swamp monster in the fact that it was green, with duck like feet, and otherwise looked like a wingless dragon; or some sort of sea serpent in miniature. A clipboard was in her hands and she had been taking notes as she watched the small creature swim around in its liquid home.

But, then she heard her grandfather speaking and turned her silvery gaze to him. She put the clipboard down on the table nearby the tank along with the pen she had been using and then walked over to her grandfather and Demi, stuffing her hands into the pockets of her white lab coat. She was practically bouncing in place; glad her experiment had been going so well, along with being happy that her grandfather had finally come to visit her lab.

"Sure! Whatcha need?"

She heard a knocking sound behind her and turned just in time to see the little sea serpent like creature hitting its tiny little head on the otherwise unbreakable glass. It blinked a few times at her, looking dazed and than swam in a few circles. Amaranth just shook her head and looked back to her grandfather, waiting for him to explain what he wanted or needed her to do.

"Demi...all of that Vampire shit in her. All of that insanity, cobwebs, drinking blood shit, all of it. I want you to work your science and take it all out of her. Then, the same way we did when Destiny wanted to, I want you to do the same for Demi. Except in her case I want you to turn her into a full blooded Angel with my DNA."

Alec felt that this was within his right since he'd done so much for the girl since she'd joined The Company. If there were some sort of reaction to Alec taking custody of Demi, he was prepared for it, whatever it was. Alec was putting his own DNA and blood into her veins, meaning that she would actually be his relative. Destiny was actually going to be her sister now, as was Jr being her brother. He took his arm off her shoulder and turned the girl toward him.

"Demitria Kane... I'm not taking no for an answer, and if Maxi comes back and has some sort of rage moment, then we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. We've all been family to you for as long as we can remember now, and now there's technology and means to really make things official. You gonna have a lot to learn about being an Angel, but you have a brother, a sister and a niece here to show you the ropes. I'll even teach you some things myself if you want from time to time."

This didn't shock her, not really, not as much as it should have. Alec had told her that he loved her; he treated her like one of his children already. So for him to be willing to do something like this? It wasn't that big of a surprise. But, could Amaranth do it? This was a lot more than just switching some DNA around, or adding some. She would have to remove what made Demi Demi, and replace it with something else: while also erasing all of the mental crap she had rattling off in her brain at any given time.

Well, she supposed if anyone could do it, Amaranth could.

But, what about Maxi? What would he do when he found out? She half expected him to come barging into the lab at any moment. Expected him to come jumping into Alec's face, threatening him or whatever.... but no one was here. It was just Alec, Amaranth, and herself. She stared at Alec for a moment and then nodded; she had no reason not to agree. He had been there through so much; everything that had happened in the past four months he had been to her rescue; hell, he had been to everyone's rescue.

She looked to Amaranth then. "What do you need me to do?"

Her grandfather had told her only a short time ago not to mess around in such things; and yet was asking her already to break that rule. But, if she was going to break it for anyone it would be her grandfather. Though, she couldn't help but wonder why. She poked her grandfather on the arm and then pointed to the chair that had flat arms, the sort a nurse would have someone sit in so they could draw blood. "I'm going to need some of your blood, your arm will do to draw it form."

She then looked to Demitria and pointed towards the white padded table. "Just lay down on there and let me work my 'magic'. And, just to give you the heads up, I have a special gas that will put you to sleep... and I'm not taking no for an answer to it. I don't know if this process is painful, and I'm not risking hurting you by allowing you to stay awake.", she said softly to the Malkavian. She then went over a nearby cabinet and began to pull out several replies: blood vials, syringes, and butterfly needles in which to draw the blood.

She then turned towards her grandfather, ready to draw a portion of his blood to begin Demitria's change. "So,  you mind telling me why I'm breaking the rule you gave me, grandad?", she asked curiously as she set the needle into a tube, preparing the equipment to draw Alec's blood.

Alec went and sat in the chair that Amaranth pointed to. He rolled up the sleeve to his coat in the meantime, wondering how long this whole process would take. He'd only glanced at the video of the experiment on Himitsu, but for the most part it looked to be a success.

"I know I said not to mess around with people because it was wrong, but in this case it just seems like the right thing to do. She shouldn't have to feel so alone. It doesn't seem like her people were or are too concerned about her anymore, or they just don't care. So she'll be my daughter now, with my blood in her veins."

He glanced around at the glass walls, the water and the fish. It would feel great to have another daughter, another Kane in the world. Having told Amaranth about the supposed sea monster that inhabited this area, Alec wondered if there was any truth to the rumor and if Amaranth had indeed caught the thing.

Demi looked over to the white padded table and wandered over to it. She climbed up on it and laid down, leaving her hands down at her sides, figuring they'd probably be better kept there since she didn't know exactly what Amaranth was going to have to do to her. She stared up at the ceiling, and then at the walls; watching the tropical fish swim around as she waited for the process to begin and finish, she was all for getting this over with.

She really had no reason at all to say no, or try and stall. In all intents and purposes Alec was a father to her; now it would just be more official. And the idea of having Destiny as an actual sister and Jr. as a brother? That was pleasing too. She just hoped Spook didn't mind her becoming an Angel.. not that she had fully revealed what she was to begin with, but still... She'd go home with angel wings and halo, of that much she was sure.

Figuring that she'd give Demi the gas which would give it time to work - even though it was fast acting - she went over and twisted the knobs on several tanks that fed a face mask. When the hiss of the gas could be heard she placed the mask on Demi's face, carefully and gently hooking it behind her head as well so that it didn't fall off if she moved or her facial features changed during the process. "You'll be asleep before you know it, and when you awake you'll be different."

Amaranth moved over to her grandfather with the needle ready to draw his blood. She pressed it up against his flesh near the crook of his arm, and the needle pierced it easily. The tube connected began to fill with blood that then fed the vial. She watched the slow process as she listened to her grandfather explain. After a moment she switched to another vial and nodded. "Honestly grandad, I'm surprised this didn't happen earlier... With all this bad stuff that kept happening to Demi." With the second vial completely filled she closed the line and then gently and quickly slid out the needle from his arm.

She went over to the same machine she had used on Himitsu's blood and placed the vials inside before closing the door. She pressed several buttons and then waited... "So, I just feel that this needs said because I'm the one doing this; if anyone decides to retaliate against me for my hand in this? I aim to kill them... no matter who that happens to be. I won't put the innocent people on my island in harms way because someone got angry with me for playing God for a good reason." She expected some sort of attack, or anger directed her way; she was after all the reason this process would soon be completed.

The machine beeped and she opened it, the blood having transferred to two syringes. She removed them carefully and walked over to what should be Demi's now sleeping form. She kept the gas running since it was fast acting and yet wore off quickly; she really didn't want to risk her waking up mid-way through the process in the off chance that it was something that was painful. As she did with Himitsu her smoke once more rose out of her form and covered Demitria's form, only far thicker than it had been the last time, entirely hiding Demi's form from view beneath it.

Genocidal Smoke:

She began to remove the vampire genes first from Demitria while feeding the first syringe of blood into her bloodstream. It was a slow process, as she used the smoke to also maneuver the blood into the proper areas to take over where the vampire genes were vanishing from. Replacing them completely. With that process finished she placed the empty syringe on the table next to her and got to work with the other. The same process was repeated again, only this time she removed the spirit portion of Demitria, an easier process since she knew more-so what to target due to her own half ghost self.

When she was finished she stepped back, the smoke slowly dissipating from Demitria's form; while her form would begin to change. She would become, all in all, a full blooded angel, a smaller female version of Alec Kane to be precise, with his DNA now running through her blood stream completely. She would watch as the halo would appear above her head, and after another moment to ensure that no wings would suddenly come bursting out of Demitria's back she then went and turned off the gas before removing her mask... she would awaken quickly, more so now that she had the angelic healing abilities.

"Hmm..."

His expression didn't even change when the needle sank into his flesh. As with the weed, he had to lower his healing factor so she'd even be able to get the needle in. While Amaranth did her thing, Alec had himself a look around the island, tuning into Jr on the beach, walking with a bag of chips, and Ghost a distance up the beach sitting in the sand. He was manipulating some of the water, having created 2 harmless beasts to do battle with each other at a gathered crowd's entertainment. Some of the kids were betting with cookies and candy on who'd win.

"If someone gets stupid enough to come out here and try something, i'd expect no less. Jr and your father are here too; retaliation is just a suicide note. Getting real tired of people only coming around when someone needs killed, when there's someone weaker who needs their ass kicked, when there's drama or everything always having to be a revenge mission. But I can't get this guy to do a simple job? He has kids and grand kids in the mix and he can't go be with his family? Alright then, that's fine. Flynn is gone now and he might as well be too."

Alec watched while Amaranth's smoke and medical procedure turned Demi into his actual daughter, 'giving birth' to her in a sense. This playing god thing was wrong, it felt wrong, but this time it was just something he had to go through with. He waited for her to wake up as a new person, a member of the Kane family. She no longer had to wear a pendant to get around the effects of the Dead Zone, she was one of the rare people that could use Kane's guns, and now she could summon Alec to her from where ever he was with just a thought.

Demi didn't resist as Amaranth placed the gas mask over her face; the gas that would then put her to sleep already flowing. She looked over with purple colored eyes as she watched Amaranth begin to draw blood from Alec's arm... and then, well, she didn't remember much else after that. It was all lights out.

But the lights really didn't go out at all. At first she could hear a conversation going on around her, at first in Alec and Amaranth's voice, and then in the voices of two Cheshire looking cats that appeared in her minds eye among a swirl of multicolors. And then the conversation ended, or she assumed since the conversation changed into another language coming from the cats.

And then the cats were fading away, and the colors were turning to the blackness of the back of her eyelids. Her body felt hyper sensitive, and there was a strange glow she was beginning to pick up that seemed to be becoming from above her head; her halo. There was an almost a strange weight on her back, which until she began to wake up more, she didn't know what it was.

Eyelids fluttered open and she stared upwards, silvery eyes catching the light above. Things looked slightly different to her, sounded different, and more importantly; felt differently. She went to sit up and found herself moving far faster with far less effort, making her feel almost dizzy since she hadn't been expecting it. "Whoa...that's.... that's weird. Why does my body feel all hyper sensitive?"

Then she caught her reflection across the room on on a mirror; her hair now had strips of silver in it among all of the white blond that was still there, her eyes likewise were silver, and her skin was no longer deathly pale, but lightly tanned and she assumed it would get darker if she started spending time outside in the sun. She reached up while staring, and touched her hair.

Amaranth watched Demi get up after she woke up; ready to catch her if her new speed proved to be too much - even though she was darn sure that Demitria would now be faster than she was. She noticed the changes in the older female; her eyes, her hair, her skin. She looked like a younger female version of her grandfather and Amaranth couldn't help but giggle. She looked like Destiny now as well, like they were sisters - and for all intents and purposes they now were.

"I believe your skin feels like that because your healing abilities are far higher and faster now than they were when you were a vampire. So, you'll feel things slightly differently until your body is used to it.... Just be careful not to get into any fights or anything for a little bit, at least until the hyper sensitivity wears off because it will hurt a lot worse than it normally would. Also, I don't suggest trying to fly... not by yourself, at least until you get a hold on your speed."

His silver eyes take in what became of Demi, noticing the resemblance almost immediately. Alec stood from the chair, nodding his head. Now, she didn't have to worry about having a father who wasn't there, and from the looks of things with Spook and the fusion with the girl Aisling, a companion. Maxi hadn't been here to try and protest or stop this, even after Alec purposely waited long periods of time, just to see if he'd show up again without being summoned. What was done now was just done.

"It might take you a while to get used to being able to move so fast. Jr tripped one day and went flying into space, was gone for like 2 days. If you fall down while going that fast you're bound to make a mess, so go easy at first."

Destiny wasn't going to be expecting this. He could almost see the look on her's and Jr's faces. Well, Jr would probably still have that tired look on his face, but to know that he had another sister now would be cool. He nodded his head again with a grin, moving the fingers of his left hand through Demi's hair.

"Listen...If you think about me you can summon me to your side where ever you are. I can bring you to me and myself to you too, just so you know. You don't need a pendant anymore and you can access all of the back rooms and secret passageways in Darkman Tower. If you want, you can move up into the Penthouse with Destiny and Jr, or you can keep the suite, either doesn't matter to me.."

There was still so much running through her head as she listened to her new father speak. She was going to be extra careful at first with her new speed; the last thing she wanted was to disappear into space for two days or longer while her daughters were left wondering where she was. That thought brought around another: how would they feel about all of this? They hadn't been given any warning, it was sudden for everyone... but, she was sure they'd be fine with the idea, especially being half Angel as they both were now.

She continued to listen to Alec while he ran his fingers through her hair. She was still stuck staring at her own reflection; surprised but how much she had changed, while barely changing at all. She reached up behind herself, unclasping the chain and removing it before handing it over to him with a grin. "I dunno if that's such a good idea... Riley's got this thing about hanging targets on the walls and throwing knives at them all day long... She hasn't broken anything, yet... but you never know..."

She then looked back to her reflection. "I hope Spook doesn't mind me being an Angel now. I mean... it's better than being a Vampire, and he doesn't have to worry about me drinking his blood..." her voice trailed off as she realized that her head was silent; it was her own thoughts and those thoughts alone in her brain - well, her and Aisling's merged thoughts. There was no more cobweb, no more voices, no more constant noise. "It's so quiet in my head..."

Amaranth listened to the pair of them talk, giggling softly at the way Demitria's thoughts kept bouncing around all over the place. She began to clean up the syringes, and what she had used to take her grandfather's blood. But, she didn't take the used supplies to the garbage; instead she took them across the room to what would look like a mini furnace of sorts. She placed the objects down and then slipped on a pair of gloves before she opened the door. She then threw the syringes and other used materials inside of the fire. It burned purplish black for a moment as it burned everything down to ash, and then the fires color turned back to normal.

She wasn't risking having something like that lying around in the garbage for someone to pick up and use later, especially with the fact that it was her grandfather's own DNA inside of those tubes. After the fire returned to normal she then closed the door, swinging the handle down that kept the thing locked, all before removing her gloves and putting them back.

With the clean up done, and knowing her experiments would wipe down and clean the lab when everything when everyone was gone she walked back over to the tank, to the tiny sea serpent like creature. "I think.. if this sea serpent is really out there, I might have enough information to find it... and then capture it.", she said softly, either talking to herself or them, since she was still staring at the little creature that was now making faces at her from the other side of the glass. She stuck her tongue back out at it and the small green creature seemed overly joyed about it.

Alec knew Spook wouldn't have any objections, since he was another version of himself. He hoped that this closed the book on any further problems for Demi. Alec gave his grand daughter a hug and kiss on her forehead.

"Thank you, Grand Baby. You let me know if there's anything you need. I'm gonna head back to the Tower. Demi, you might wanna take some time out to...get a feel for yourself. I'll be in my office if you have any questions, or you can always just call me through your mind..."

This bit of business was done. Alec grinned before seemingly vanishing into thin air, indicating that he'd left behind an after image...

Demi moved slowly as she turned, allowing her legs to dangle down over the edge of the white padded table. She was careful with her movements, not wanting to go too fast and loose control of herself. At Alec's words to her she nodded. "Mmkay, probably a good idea... this is still weird.", she responded as she slipped her butt off of the table, feet touching the floor.

Yup, she definitely needed to get a hold of this speed thing before she tried to do anything complicated or hard. Even flying was going to be held off until she got a hold of the speed thing. "Thanks Amaranth, I really appreciate it... I think I'm going to go try a few laps around your island or something... try and get used to the way my body works now." As she walked out of the lab she thought back to how odd it was going to be to fly using wings; she had always flown with her mind... this was going to a serious learning experience.


She ran several laps around the island, and then ran right across the ocean back to Edge city...

Amaranth smiled happily and returned her grandfather's hug. "You're welcome, grandad. I think I'm going to go out looking for this sea serpent... maybe catch a new pet. Or a new summon..." She began to mumble to herself as she left her lab after Demitria. She wouldn't need anything to survive under the ocean, all she would need it herself.

She didn't mind if Demi ran around her island a half dozen times, so long as she was happy now with the way she was. She was definitely going to have to cut down on playing God though, she didn't mind this time or the last because of the reasons behind it.... but it had still felt wrong. But, her mind cleared soon enough as she walked into the ocean...
