I Want to be a Superhero Too! [Open, NR]

A giggle escaped her as she stared at the television; the news broadcast speaking of Vigilante; who was fighting some crime boss. It was the newest in the latest broadcasts she had seen. She had even giggled at her sister several times over again because she knew, after her sister had explained the Nanoids to her and several other things like their trip to the beach, that the Vigilante was Cala's boyfriend. She wanted to be just like him...

So, she had emerged herself into studying; book after book having been taken out from the library, all about plants and poisons. She had been reading and reading, and then when she thought she couldn't read anymore she still pushed herself. She had several potted plants around her, and had spent hours manipulating them; until she got tired of staring at the same walls repeatedly.

So, she had taken her potted plant, which resembled a stick of bamboo, and her latest book titled 'Plant Poison and You' and had sat herself in the hallway, outside of the suite door. Her back was propped up against the wall, and her legs were in a loose circle; the potted plant resting in the middle of the circle her legs made. She would read for a bit, and then pause long enough to manipulate the color or shape of the bamboo, before returning it to its rightful state and reading some more. The whole process repeating itself over and over again...

She kept reading, flipping through page after page, only to stop long enough to look up and down the hall, or otherwise manipulate the plant in front of her as she saw fit. It was nothing too harmful: at least unless someone with a low immunity would happen to touch it. So, it wasn't like she had to worry about someone getting hurt.

This time, as she looked from her book after having read about a poison that puts people to sleep, she looked to the plant and willed the poison into it; even though it was nothing more than a sturdy looking piece of bamboo. The bamboo changed to purple from the bottom up, and gave off a faint pleasant smell: the sort of smell you would want to get closer to and sniff - which was the whole allure and /danger/ behind the plant: one sniff and you would pass out for at least fifteen to twenty minutes.

Another giggle escaped Devon and she willed the plant back to normal before she continued to read more...

As she kept reading she thought of how she wanted to go about this superhero business. She wanted to be like The Vigilante, he had inspired her. She had read some comic books about different heroes, and had noticed that each one seemed to excel in one area over most of the others. Some were super strong, some were really fast, others could fly... all Devon could do was fight somewhat and manipulate plants. So that would have to be her angle.

She also thought about another issue that had come up while she had been reading: all of those superheros wore costumes. Something to hide who they truly were to the rest of the world. A way for them all to remain secret. What sort of costume would she make? What sort of costume would someone have who could manipulate plants?...

She definitely needed a costume: she couldn't have her sister find out she was running around and helping to put a stop to crime. She wouldn't like that, right?

Devon dog-eared the page she had been reading and then closed the book. She looked at the plant in front of her and then thought some more on her costume idea. She wanted something that would hide her from those who knew her. Something... manipulable. She thought about the plants she could manipulate; the fact that she could do whatever she wanted with them.

That was how she would do her costume, too: made out of the very plants she could control. Something she could enhance and strengthen, that could keep her well protected. The only thing she would have to worry about was fire: but even then perhaps she could work something out.

She mentally began to picture it in her head: and as she did so she looked up and down the hallway, ensuring that no one was paying attention or there to see her. Seeing that no one was watching she got to her feet and concentrated on herself, willing plants to grow from the pot at her feet and cover her: making her flesh look lightly green, a pink lab coat looking dress, green gloves, green boots; and flower petals shaped like butterfly wings. Even her hair thickened and turned green, growing. She looked completely different than she had moments before: even some glasses appearing on her face to help further disguise herself, made out of very thin wood.

She looked down at her hands and the rest of herself and giggled....
