Losing my mind [Open][NR]

Why was he suddenly having day dreams of Ninjas? Dreams of running across rooftops and beating up pirates, gangsters and rouge bandits? Since yesterday he'd been having mild headaches that even the Healing Factor couldn't fix. The strangest part of it all had to be the fact that he kept seeing Demi's face. What was it about the girl? She'd been in episode after episode, even being killed violently. Had the girl lain some strange Malkavian Vampire curse?

He wondered if it had anything to do with the recent "arrival." Alec had been paying close attention so far, and the individual was doing everything that was expected of him. It was entertaining to watch so far. His popularity was beginning to spread like Vigilante, but unlike V this guy didn't stick around long after helping someone to bask in the fame. This same guy signed a job application, so there would be more to come. It was just a matter of time...

But for now, he had to get to the bottom of these headaches and what seemed to be someone else's memories in his head. He put a hand to the side of his head, using telepathy instead of an intercom. He didn't want anyone else to know about this except Demi for now. Already feeling like he was losing his mind, talking to her about something like this would surely be embarrassing. Telling Demi he's seeing her in his dreams? How would that look?

"Demi, could you come up to my office for a sec? Need some closure on something..."

Demi was in the midst of rubbing at her temples when she heard Alec's voice enter into her head. It was among the thousands of other things running through it at the moment - thoughts that were both her own and not, voices, memories she couldn't make sense of, and the sense of two people in one body - but she heard him clear enough. She blinked and looked up, almost expecting to see him in her suite; but after a moment of her senses gathering she realized that he must still be up in his office. She really needed to shake off this distracted feeling; before it led her into unwanted danger.

She got up without further delay, not wanting to keep him waiting; especially if it was important. She left her suite and took the elevator up the floor that separated them. Down the hallway and to his office door, where she stopped only long enough to open the door, step inside, and then close it behind her. She glanced around at the mostly empty room, her gaze resting on Alec after a moment as she walked up towards his desk.

"What's up?"

As she waited for him to explain she went through her head; thinking back to the past few days and making sure she hadn't done anything that could have been considered trouble-maker worthy. She had been working hard to keep her nose clean since her head had been separated from her shoulders: so she couldn't think of anything she had done that might have led her into some hot water.

A while was spent staring toward the girl strangely. Was he really losing it? Had fighting in those wars all those years finally knocked something lose? It had to have something to do with the new guy... It had to.

"...So yeah... Been having these strange headaches. Having strange dreams and shit. It's like i'm seeing memories that aren't mine, in my head, like I did this shit, but I didn't...Funny thing about it all is, and don't take this the wrong way, but I keep seeing this girl that looks just like you...You'll have to forgive if I sound crazy. Maybe it's all this stress finally getting to me or something..."

How the hell did dad handle this job. Alec would have to remind himself to ask his father Darkman about how he dealt with all of the stress that came with taking care of an entire city as well as a family and Company....

Demi blinked as she was stared at, ignoring the instinct to squirm. Alec was like a father to her, and it always made her feel like she had done something wrong when stared at like that by a parent figure. But, then he started talking and she reached up her right hand, pinching at the bridge of her nose as her brow furrowed - like someone would if they had a headache, or were trying to remember something hard.

A laugh escaped her, though it was hardly amused sounding. "Really? Okay.. I mean, I'm crazy, we both know this... but I seriously thought I was losing it. For the past day or so it's been like there's two people in my head, like I'm two people in one body I should say since there's always people in my head. And my dreams... I keep dreaming that I'm riding around on this giant iron fan - and I have no idea how I know it's iron but I do - and I'm flying over this village.. like, old school village, no cars and shit..."

She dropped her hand, staring at Alec. "And like.. I see my reflection, and it's me but it's not. I have these red fang markings on my face and shit, and I'm heading to this forest that surrounds the village... and next thing I know in my dream I'm watching some guy standing on water with this mask on and glowing green eyes, like I'm training him or something..." She ran her fingers through her hair, pushing the white blond strands out of her face - since she had recently removed all of the purple out of it and returned it to her normal color.

A strange expression covered Alec's face when she said the words "giant iron fan." She had his total attention when she started describing herself with red markings on her face, and especially the part about the guy with glowing green eyes. Ok, he wasn't going crazy, he was sure of that now. Something strange was going on, and it was because of the new visitor in Edge.

"Ok... maybe I should just start from the beginning... I don't know if you're wise to the idea of dimensions parallel to this one, and also to the idea that there are other versions of yourself living in these dimensions. The Gods of these dimensions can sometimes be cruel and uncaring, and will unmake reality just for their own amusement... When something like this happens I can sometimes tune into it. I got in touch with the "me" in a nearby dimension where the Gods there planned on re-making reality after first deleting the old one, and for a day or so I was "talking to myself." In his world, him and everyone in it are Ninja. I tried convincing him to come here, and even opened a door through the void for him... He stopped responding, but I left the door open for him and set it to close when he came through."

Alec pushed several buttons on his desk, bringing up several screens. One screen was to a camera that allowed viewers to see a strange fight in an alley. 4 guys were trying to rob a man. A dark dressed person with a mask on that had glowing green eyes on it appeared and wiped the floor with 4 guys. The dark dressed man helped the victim to his feet and dusted him off.

Another camera showed this same person running the wrong way down a busy street filled with traffic. The way he moved just said "Ninja." He moved fast and expertly dodged cars, jumping over them at times, before bouncing off of a wall like a pinball and slicing a car that appeared to be attempting to outrun him in half.

One last camera showed this masked individual with the green glowing eyes rescuing a small child from what looked like yet another crime boss. The masked man looked to clone himself into several other people and fight a crowd, before one by one the clones exploded. Another camera caught sight of the man escaping with the child on his back, and returning her to what had to be her mother.

"But now this guy is here. And ever since he got here, i've been seeing his memories. I kept my eyes open for anything unusual and started seeing this guy. He signed one of the job applications, so he's gonna be here soon. I guess his name is 'Spook,' where he comes from, everyone looked up to him. So i'm guessing this guy is pretty amazing. I mean, i'm pretty awesome myself, not to toot my own horn, but if this guy is really me from another dimension, i'm expecting big things...The main question has to be, who is this girl i'm seeing, and why does she look like you?"

Demi listened closely to Alec's explanation: she didn't doubt that there were other dimensions, with other versions of herself. She had heard enough voices in her head to confirm such things: Malkavian's thought outside of the box after all, while others tore the box to pieces, lit it on fire, and pissed on the ashes. She did that to the box on a daily basis. So, in response to Alec speaking she nodded, and then turned her gaze to the monitors, watching as this person named Spook did several good deeds, with incredible speed and moves... and even clones? Interesting.

She had continued to watch the monitors up until Alec said 'Spook' and her gaze snapped back to him, eyes growing slightly wide. "Okay... getting slightly odder." She thought back to her most recent dream: the one she had woken up from moments before Alec had telepathically called her to his office: the reason she had been rubbing her temples.

She wandered over to the large windows and stared outside, folding her arms across her chest as she stared out of the window; wondering where Spook was at now, and half tempted to go looking for him, even if he had signed up to join the Company. "I think I know... You see, I had a more recent dream before coming here, I had woken up about ten minutes before you asked me to come up here. The me with the fang markings on my face and Spook, which was his name in my dream as well, were on one date, and then as my dream skipped further ahead, another date... He was her main bodyguard, I suppose this Aisling, who is me in that other dimension, was in some sort of position of power. But... she loved him, and I suppose he loved her too, from what I could tell."

She rubbed at her head again; this was all weird. She could feel her mind continuing to become one with this other mind she knew to be called Aisling. "It's like.. I can feel myself becoming one with her... "

"Yeah. I'm thinking it's because this guy is here now. I'm not an expert on this dimensional travel thing, but, it feels like he started some sort of weird mental bond since he came here, since he's me, and possibly because of the strong feelings he had for you... The images are starting to get easier to see... So I'm this Ninja bodyguard bad ass there, who's in love with the "you" over there, this Aisling person?... I don't think she came with him... (Slow sigh) I understand if you think this is all weird, because I do too..."

All of this was too much to be taking in at the moment. He reached over and grabbed another one of his cigars, flicking his Zippo to it. The mountain of weed that was on the desk, put there when Demi was killed and resurrected, had a dent in it from Kane's constant smoking to keep calm. How long was he going to be seen pictures of this Demi woman inside of his head? How long was he going to be feeling this way about her? Sure, Alec had a thing for Demi once, but now she was the same as Destiny, his daughter. He treated her the same as he would Destiny, even spanking her once. But now he was seeing hot pictures of her in his head, even if it were another version of her?

"I donno what's gonna happen when this guy gets here for the Company thing, but I just thought you should be warned. I thought I was the only one seeing things and this village with all of the leaves and throwing stars and swords and shit, it's good to know i'm not yet losing my mind..."

She stared out the window for a moment longer before glancing sideways to Alec. "Maybe I should go find him early... " She reached up, rubbing her head. "I dunno.. I just sort've feel that if I go find him earlier rather than later that maybe all these headaches and weird dreams will clear up, for the both of us... And maybe I'll stop feeling like I'm two people in one body..."

She shook her head slightly. "I mean... I'm crazy and all, but I never have felt like I was two people at once, and it's so confusing..." She really wanted this all cleared up, the faster the better. Maybe running into Spook and talking to him or something would help clear this whole mess up, and maybe stop this two-in-one feeling she had going on; and stop Alec's confusing thoughts and headaches. It was worth a shot, right?

"What do you think?"

"I... don't know. Danger and shit seems to follow you around like it's your shadow. I don't think it's gonna hurt too bad if we wait it out and let him come to us. This might be the kind of situation where if you rush it, something bad might happen. Like, we might collapse the universe or some shit... Remember, i'm no expert on this dimensional travel thing, especially when it comes to some other version of yourself."

The last thing he wanted was reality to be manipulated some kind of way because of an emo moment, then someone's dead. Alec flicked ashes into the tray and took another long drag, exhaling the smoke slowly. The Vigilante was fighting Xan, and a Ninja version of himself from another dimension that was in love with an alternate version of Demi was running around out there, saving innocents and slashing cars in half. All the makings of a crazy ass comic book.

A soft sigh escaped her but she nodded just the same. If Alec thought it was a good idea to wait then she would take his advice and do so; even if her mind wanted her to do something else. "Alright, I see where you're coming from, so I'll wait... even if I really don't want to." She refolded her arms across her chest and then turned fully so that she was facing Alec.

"So, you want me to keep this all hush-hush then until you're ready to tell everyone else?" It made no difference to her: though she couldn't exactly hide things from Maximillian if he decided to dig around in her brain - but she hadn't given him any reason to do so as of late, or so she thought. So, she was more than willing to keep things a secret if that's what Alec wanted.

She was definitely going to have to go out and do something to clear her head though: take a walk, go do a job... yeah, maybe she'd go do a job, something to be helpful while also giving herself a bit of a break. It'd be something else to focus on for a little while.

There was also the matter of the woman who appeared in Ground Zero. She'd done nothing so far except gather the monsters and mutants that live there now on the floating island she created, and she didn't exactly hide the fact that she was watching everything that was going on. What was she up to? Alec was wise to the ways of spies, and those that were about to declare war. Alec grew up in war; he learned the tactics used on both sides of the battlefield. There was no cause for alarm just yet, but her eyes un-nerved him.

"I don't see why you wouldn't be able to tell someone else about this. Just try to be selective with your words, and don't go hatch some crazy plan to go out there chasing after this guy. We don't want to 'Spook' him for lack of a better word and scare him off. Let him come to us, be patient..."
