You wanna stab things?... Okay! [Riley, or Invite][NR]

Demitria was positioned in one of the many chairs available in the suite's own little kitchen. However, she wasn't sitting as someone should: instead she had the front two legs of the kitchen chair off of the ground, as she pivoted her weight on the back legs. Her feet were propped up on another chair, helping to keep herself balanced as she sat there.

She was bored, to say the least, and had one of many throwing knives she had on her person in her hand. Her finger was in the circular hold at the tip of the hilt and she was spinning it repeatedly; and expertly, the entire blade moving so quickly in its circular path that it was a blur to untrained eyes.

She began to whistle softly, attempting to find something to do...

Riley looked over to her mother as she entered into the kitchen: her goal the fridge that was filled with all kinds of lovely fruity drinks. She paused for a moment, her head tilting to the side as her child-like curiosity grew. She watched the throwing knife spin and spin repeatedly around her mother's finger, all without her mother seeming to be afraid of cutting herself.

She tore her gold gaze away from her mother and her knife spinning long enough to reach into the fridge and pull out a sixteen ounce bottle of pink liquid: watermelon juice. She unscrewed the cap and walked over to her mother, standing about three feet away as she watched her and took a drink of her juice at the same time. After swallowing she retilted her head and put the cap back onto the bottle. "Mommy, will you teach me about knives?"

She watched her daughter as she walked into the room, the throwing knife never slowing in its spinning on her pointer finger. She watched her go to get a drink and then chuckled at her question. "Alright sure... not a problem." The knife instantly came to a stop in its spinning on her finger, fingers gripping the thread covered hilt, keeping her from cutting herself.

"First lesson: safety. Never do anything, like what you saw me doing, without really knowing what you're doing. It only takes one slip for you to cause harm to yourself. Never run your fingers along the blade, or balance the tip on your finger like you see those idiots on the television doing."

With that said she handed her daughter the throwing knife. "Look it over, get yourself familiar with the way it feels in your hands, and how heavy it is. That's the most important thing, is being comfortable with the weapon. If it doesn't feel right you're not going to use it to the best of your ability."

Riley took the knife carefully, avoiding the double edged blade of the throwing knife. She looked it over carefully, memorizing all of the details of it. She felt the weight, holding it in her flat palm. It was heavy, and yet light at the same time. A very fine tuned weapon. She even found the balance of the weapon, that sweet spot that kept it balancing on her pointer finger as she laid it there: right between the hilt and the blade.

"It's like it's heavy but it's not... it... it feels good in my hand.", she said softly, and then looked up to her mother, wondering if that was wrong. "Is that a bad thing?" It felt like a weapon that she should be using, that she was born to use, as silly as that sounded at the moment to her.

Her grin spread across her face at her daughter's words. So, it felt right in her hand? That was... well, that was about the best damn news she had heard in a long time. It had been the same way with Demi herself when she had picked up her first knife: it felt right, it felt powerful, it felt like it was a part of her. And now her daughter felt that, too? Riley was more alike herself each and every day.

"That's not a bad thing at all, it's a good thing actually. In fact... i wonder if you have my knack for hitting a target right off rip. You see, when I first picked up my first knife I felt that, too. It felt like it was just perfect, like an extension of my arm."

She looked across the way at a wooden pole that stuck up from the breakfast counter. She reached to her right thigh, where her holster of throwing knives was and removed another. "Watch me closely, and when I'm done I want you to try." She took aim at the wooden pole, and with a flick of her wrist and some perfect timing, she sent the throwing knife straight into the pole, hitting it dead center about half way up. It imbedded itself about an inch into the wood. "Now, you try..."

Knowing that what she was feeling wasn't a bad thing now she let herself smile. She looked to her mother as she told her to watch, and began to pay close attention. She watched the way her mother's arm moved, the way she aimed, and the way she flicked her wrist. She even paid extra special attention to how she held the weapon, and the exact moment in which she actually let go of the throwing knife.

She followed its path into the wooden pole where it struck. She stared at the spot for a moment, and then took her own aim slightly lower than her mothers, wanting to hit the dead center of the pole too. She moved her arm and hand, giving a flick of her wrist just as her mother had, releasing the throwing knife at the same time. It flew threw the air, straight and true, and imbedded itself slightly to the left of her mothers throwing knife, and about an inch lower. She had got the height she was aiming for right, but not the exact spot. Still, at least she had hit the pole.

Demitria grinned, outright grinned. The sort of grin that Cala was famous for, although it was less frightening and crazy than her fellow Malkavian's. Her daughter had hit the pole, on her first try. That had to be some sort of record, especially because the pole was only about three inches thick, give or take a little bit. Her daughter definitely was a natural when it came to knife combat.

"Excellent job!"

She lowered the front legs of her chair to the ground and removed her feet off of the chair across from the one she was seated in. She then got up and moved over to the pull, wrenching both knives free from the wood they'd been stuck into. She moved back to her chair and sat back down, handing the first of the two to her daughter. "Do it again, see if you can hit my mark that I made."

She reached over, taking the throwing knife that her mother was offering her. Already it felt right to hold the weapon in her hand, it already felt like it was a part of her. Like this was what she was supposed to be doing. With far less time than she had taken before she took aim, and once more gave a flick of her wrist: her throwing knife hit her mother's mark dead center.

A grin swept across her face and she giggled happily. "I did it! I did it! What's next?", she asked, looking to her mother for her next set of instructions, and hoping that there was a lot more to learn.

Demitria grinned and handed the other throwing knife out towards her daughter. "Here, now before you throw it... try with your other hand, let's see where your aim is for that. When you can throw multiple throwing knives at once from both hands... well, it gives you an advantage that most people could only dream of having. It takes some more practice, but it's a good asset to have."

Once she could see where her daughter stood with that, she figured she'd move on to bigger and better things: give her daughter the knowledge and let her roll with it. Basic instruction and then she could practice all she wanted, and it would give her something to do. She glanced around the kitchen for a moment, knowing she hadn't seen Nanalie in a little bit, and figuring she would go see Alec shortly to see if she had come to pester him... and to check and see if Flynn had arrived in Edge yet... she had been gone for four solid days with his girls, hadn't said a word to him either, she had just packed up and left... she was surprised he wasn't busting down the door to the suite or something.

Riley took the throwing knife from her mother, again, all while listening to her new set of instructions. She was to throw it with her other hand? Well, okay, she was more than willing to give it a try and see if she could do it; especially after she heard her mother explain that being able to throw knives from both hands was a good asset to have. The better she could be at this, the more she could do, right?

With the throwing knife in her left hand she took aim and flicked her wrist, launching it at the pole just as she had with the rest. It imbedded itself into the pole, an inch and a half lower than her first one. Riley giggled.

Seeing that her daughter had the basics down, she went on to explain certain exercises she could do to strengthen her throwing abilities, different stances that would further to help her aim, how different pressure and movements with her wrists could cause different results in how deep a knife went. She then explained how knives could be used for more than to just hurt: how you could throw them, make them flip, and hit someone with the hilt hard enough to knock someone unconscious.

From there she began to explain hand to hand with a knife. How it was much the same as unarmed combat, just with a knife and slightly different movements. She also explained how throwing knives could be also used for hand to hand combat, as could a combat knife. Meanwhile, she continued to speak about safety, about not doing stupid things, and about practice, practice, practice.

With all of that information done being relayed to her daughter she got up, and held up her finger. "Wait right here..." She walked over to the pole and removed both of her knives, sheathing them in her leg holder, and then she walked into her bedroom. After a moment she emerged, a sheathed combat knife in hand, and another leg holster for throwing knives which was fully loaded with the weapons in another.

"These are for you. Take care of them, keep them clean and well maintained... treat them like you treat yourself. Be responsible with them. Only use them when you have to, and never attack someone who doesn't deserve it. Make sure you practice, okay?"

Riley took the combat knife and the throwing knives, looking to her mother in awe. This was a completely awesome gift: better than anything she had ever got before. She held them to her chest carefully, and grinned. "Thank you mommy! I will be sure to be safe, and practice!"

With that said she walked off to her room, figuring she'd get herself more familiar with her weapons, and the new outfit she suddenly found on her bed as she opened the door... worthy of some sort of assassin or something.

Chuckling she watched Riley walk off towards her bedroom, where her other gift for her daughter waited: an outfit worthy of someone who fought with knives. "If you need me I'll be upstairs. I'm going to go have a quick talk with Mister Kane and then I'll be back. If you need anything just let me know..."

With that she she headed towards the suite door, leaving to head upstairs...
