"So, someone wants to rob that big bank over there?", Niala found herself asking the young man who had approached her. With a sigh the small female shook her head. She didn't understand some people, she really didn't. What was so hard about going out there and getting a job? She understood that people sometimes had to steal food and stuff to survive, she had been in that position herself before joining the Company, but stealing just to steal? Because you wanted to live some sort of rich life without busting your butt for it? That was... well, it was wrong.
She figured she wasn't about to be doing much sleeping at all tonight with the fact that they were aiming to rob the place in the dead of night. She also figured that she couldn't exactly go to the police and tell them; I mean, who would believe a little thirteen year old when she said that some guys were going to rob a bank? Add in the fact that she couldn't exactly tell them how she knew this was going to happen? Right. She was doing this on her own.
Figuring she had a bit of time to waste she ventured next door to the building she had been standing in front of, and took a seat in one of the window booths of the cafe; ordering herself a hot chocolate. As she sat there sipping her beverage, which had far too few marshmallows for her taste, she watched as the armored truck arrived with the shipment that the goons were planning on stealing later that night. She watched as they carried the loot, the diamonds, into the bank under heavy guard. Niala just shook her head and smirked; anyone who wasn't either a fool or psychotic wouldn't rob an armed guard in broad daylight, they'd save their efforts for nighttime, when the bank was dark and they could hide and sneak.
She kept watch over the bank for the rest of the evening, ordering hot chocolate after hot chocolate, and even some cookies as she remained in her window booth and just watched. For the times she had to get up to pee she simply waited until no one was paying attention, jumped herself forward in time enough to go pee, and then jumped herself back, bladder empty, so that she never missed a moment of the action at the bank; finding herself thankful she was wearing the pendant the Boss had given her; and hoping that that didn't fall under abusing her powers; she really wasn't trying to, she simply just didn't want to risk missing anything coming or going as she was mentally keeping check of the number of people in and out of the building, how long they were in there, and if they ever emerged back out of the bank at all.
So far three individuals, each going in with an hour and fifteen minutes between them each, had entered and had never shown back up. They were all dressed like businessmen, and each carried a rather large briefcase. She found herself wondering about them, figuring those were probably the people she was going to end up having to stop; and wondering exactly where they were hiding if they were going in before the bank closed. But, she also figured that all of her questions would be answered soon enough when the bank closed.
Niala remained in her seat even after the bank closed, figuring that she'd wait until the guard did his rounds and left before she would enter in. Since she planned on jumping in she didn't want to risk the guy seeing her and dying of a heart attack or anything; though she didn't extend this same carefulness when it came to those who planned on robbing the bank.
"Hey, sweetie. We're closing up, gonna have to boot you. But, here's a hot chocolate to go, and I doubled the marshmallows in it. It's on the house.", came the sweet elderly voice near her ear.
Niala turned and smiled to see the elderly waitress of a woman standing near her, holding out a very large coffee cup with a lid filled with steaming hot chocolate and according to her, a whole bunch of marshmallows. "Okay, thanks, thanks a bunch. I really appreciate it!"
"No problem, sweetheart. You come back any time, okay?", the elderly woman added, giving her a pat on the head before walking away.
Niala took the cup and scooted herself out of the booth, returning her gaze to the bank in time to see the security guard leave. That meant the bank was empty now; except for those three people who had gone in and never came back out. She took a sip of her hot chocolate as she walked out of the small cafe; hearing the ding that indicated the door opening and closing. She glanced backwards, watching the old waitress give a wave and then flip the sign to closed before locking the dead bolt and drawing the blinds.
She glanced back to the bank and then back to the cafe before turning and walking off down the sidewalk. There were plenty of security cameras around for the numerous buildings, so she wasn't going to risk jumping where someone could see later even if they weren't watching now. Instead, she turned the corner and headed down the back alley, sipping on her hot chocolate as she went. Once she was sure there were no security cameras from the nearby buildings watching her, and that she was deep enough in the shadows that any normal passerby wouldn't notice her vanishing, she jumped herself right into the bank; into one of the dark corners on the second floor balcony that overlooked the first.
She leaned against the wall, watching and sipping her hot chocolate as she did so. She could see the three men down below; all of who had shed their dressier attire for what looked to be fire proof clothing. One of them was carrying a torch and was already beginning to work on the large vault. Niala glanced around, quickly plotting her first course of action with several back up plans already in her mind encase it started to go south quickly. She took one final sip of her hot chocolate and set it on a small table nearby, figuring she would come back for it later.
She moved to the railing so she could get a better look down to the floor below; all while remaining in the shadows, and glad she'd picked up on wearing all black recently. She could bull rush in, attacking them, or she could play this smart and see how that went. She was aiming for playing it smart. Her goal was going to be to scare them away; they seemed human enough after all.
Therefore, she put her Psychokinesis into effect; more importantly her telepathic projections. She projected her voice, trying to make it sound older as she caused to fill the room they were in; "Hey you! Leave my diamonds alone! You'll be cursed if you touch them! You'll be cursed like me!"
The group rose as one, startled and grabbing for weapons they had brought with them just encase something like this had happened. But, those weapons wouldn't do anything against the ghost like female Niala began to psychically project into the room in front of them. She'd done a good job of creating her, if she did say so herself, the woman looked about a hundred years old with the way her clothing looked, and her hair was done up in a fancy style so that she looked like a rich lady.
The group began to fire round after round into her, but the woman only stood there. Niala projected her 'voice' once more into the room. "Your weapons will not harm me, but my powers will harm you!" At that Niala began to mess with the lights down below, flickering them on and off, opening and closing the doors telekinetically. The alarm began to sound.
The man who had had the torch outright pissed himself. The other, who Niala now realized was wearing a cross of all things while he robbed the bank, kissed his cross and began to mutter in a language Niala didn't understand what sounded like a prayer. The third man could only stand there, staring in shock for a moment, before he smacked both of his buddies upside of their heads and took off; bailing outside. Niala telekinetically caused the door to strike him on his ass on the way out; suppressing her giggle.
"GET OUT! GET OUT BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE AND YOU ALL ARE CURSED. CURSED LIKE ME!" the ghostly projected woman shouted as the pair remaining began to scramble and then took off, slipping and falling across the bank's floor as they did so. Not a single one of them bothering to take anything they had brought with them as they did so.
Niala waited a moment, ensuring that they weren't coming back before allowing the ghostly woman to vanish into the nothingness she had come from. She wandered back over to the table and picked up her hot chocolate, sipping it as she walked down the steps to one of the teller's tables. She grabbed a notepad and a pen and wrote a little message that said "I'm sorry for the mess, and the damage they did to your vault. But, I chased them out for you so they didn't rob you. Sincerely, N. P.S. You guys should buy hot chocolate from the cafe across the street, it's really good, and the old lady is very sweet."
With that done Niala blended back into the shadows and jumped herself out of the bank, appearing in the darkness once more of the alley. She walked out of the alley, heading back towards the giant tower that was Darkman Tower in the distance, sipping her hot chocolate as she did so.
