Amaranth laid on the sand, eyes shut, as she felt the warmth of the sun on her face: the sun would be going down soon and darkness would descend upon the island. She had been in this secluded spot for the past four hours, in the same position, with only the rise and fall of her chest from gentle breathing showing any sign of life. She was relaxing, or perhaps it wasn't so much relaxing as it was attempting to figure things out. She had tried to get past things dealing with Nova, she had tried to honestly put it all out of her mind and just go on and pretend that nothing happened, but that was easier said than done.
She had gone over in her mind a hundred times, frown in place as it always seemed to be these days, how she might have given anyone the slightest inclination that she would kill a member of her own family, an innocent. Amaranth most days was bubbly, happy, and generally in high spirits and a good mood – compared to her Aunt Demi who would shoot you for looking at her wrong, or her mother Destiny who would blow you up out of sheer boredom. A rustle in the bushes caused her eyes to snap open, silver colored hues staring up at the sky while she caught the movement of leaves out of the corner of her eye. Was it a bunny? Some harmless creature that roamed her island on a daily basis? Or was this perhaps another escaped 'creature' from that old experimental lab that was located somewhere deep within her island? Her scythe was at her hip, as always, but she really didn't want to use it if she didn't have to...
