Survival Adventure Part 6 [Open][NR]

So next was the cold area... He'd had a nice night's sleep in that cabin. The Symbiote would protect him from the elements for the most part, but he didn't know how Seraphina would fare. Maybe they could catch a polar bear or something to make a coat.

He'd left the cabin and continued on through the mountains, until a field of white appeared before them. Alec was able to step lightly, so he didn't sink into the snow much. He'd pulled out and put on his mesh gloves and boots before the snow got too deep.

So began the trek through the world of snow and ice.

The cabin had been very warm; especially compared to the snow and wind that had continued on through the night outside. Seraphina had found herself extra warm under both blankets, but upon waking was up eager to get going.

She gathered up her bag with her supplies and belongings in it and followed her brother back out into the cold. After moving more through the mountains they reached what seemed to be fields of whiteness. Seraphina blinked against the harsh light, and deciding to put her new ability to the test rather than risk giving herself a headache, she closed her eyes and let her Chakra Radar take effect. "That's better. No more blinding snow."

She wrapped her knee length cloak tighter around her and ensured that the hood was up to protect her head and keep it warm. "How exactly did Amaranth stumble across a place with so many different terrains like this?", Seraphina asked curiously as she followed after Alec.

"Destiny, your niece, she made it. I don't know how exactly, you'll have to ask her when you see her. Niala, my former consultant when I was boss of Edge, she can imagine things and make it reality. She imagined this island being much bigger. Originally this wasn't here before..."

Alec had also put on his old blindfold so that the mass of white didn't screw up his normal vision. The journey through the land of cold and white took them down out of the mountains, across a glacier, through a field of dead grass and to a large frozen lake.

Alec used the Blind Fury sword with Katon (fire) chakra to cut a hole in the ice, and some of the thread from his Folding Bow for fishing line. It took some effort, but he sacrificed one of his old Kunai from the other world to make a hook. Alec kept some of the boar and deer remains for this occasion, putting some of it on the hook as bait.

As he sat on the ice with his back to the wind, there was a growl behind them. He saw several Polar Bears approaching. Alec had seen them long before they got there, but was hoping they kept on walking. Perhaps it was the color of his cloak that attracted them; black in a sea of white. He handed the fishing line over towards Seraphina.

"Here... i'll take care of this. I could use the exercise..."

He stood and turned to face the approaching bears with a grin. Two of the largest had began to approach Alec as he walked toward them, with the 5 smaller ones staying back. Alec didn't plan on killing them and leaving the smaller ones without parents, but he did plan on letting them know that they should have just kept on walking...

Seraphina listened as Alec described how Destiny, her neice, had been the one to originally create the island itself. Then a girl named Niala had come along, someone who Alec had used to work with when he was Boss of Edge, and had imagined the rest of the island - and how where they were now hadn't been originally in the island's designs. Seraphina could only shake her head because it was hard to imagine that powers like that truly existed; a girl who could imagine things and make them real? Now that was some serious responsibility, and she was glad she didn't have it.

"Wow, that's... amazing. But I don't think I'd want powers like that, I think it would be more hassle then it's worth.", she said honestly.

She traveled alongside her brother in relative silence after that, allowing her mind to wander for a bit as she tried to imagine what other sorts of powers some of the people in the world had. When her brother tried ice fishing she watched patiently, at least that was until he handed the string over to her at the approach of several polar bears. She kept a good grip on the string, mimicking the movement that her brother had been making while she kept her eyes shut and continued to use Chakra Radar to see: this way she could pay attention to what she was doing but also watch her brother in action. Would he kill the polar bears? Or would he just scare them off? She had a strong feeling that despite there being more polar bears than him he wasn't going to have any trouble dealing with them.

Shoulder blocks. Everytime one of the bears made a swing at him with one of those large paws, Alec dodged the swings and returned fire with quick shoulder blocks that knocked the animals backwards, or onto either their backs or chests. They didn't hurt, but were enough to knock them silly.

He knocked the mother bear down 3 times and the father down once. They eventually began to catch the hint that maybe they shouldn't have approached Alec and his sister. After a few growls and hiss sounds, the bears turned and continued to move on.

It was then that the chain his father gave him started glowing a strange red color, and Alec himself began to feel strange. Suddenly feeling weak in the knees he dropped to them, his left hand clutching at his chest as his vision blurred. His body, unknown to him at the moment, was going through a sort of "rewind" phase. His hair suddenly grew shorter and turned black, as it was when he was younger. His featured seemed to become even younger than they already were.

The chain around his neck was glowing a bright red color. Alec cleared some of the snow from the ice to look down at his reflection, noticing that his hair was no longer the trademark white. He honestly felt younger, and looked to see that he looked just the same as he did when he was emerging from his teens. Did this have something to do with the chain his father gave him?

"Well... there's something you don't see everyday..."

Seraphina had watched her brother closely while handling the bears; every time the bears attempted to attack him the attacks were dodged, only for them the bears to be knocked around. It didn't look particularly painful, but more annoying then anything. Eventually, the bears seemed to learn their lesson and give up, wandering away after a few choice bear noises that indicated their feelings.

Seraphina opened her mouth, clearly about to comment, when suddenly she saw Alec drop to his knees while clutching his chest. Whatever Seraphina had been about to say suddenly escaped her mind as she rushed over, dropping to her knees beside him. Before she could even ask him if he was alright though his appearance began to change: his hair darkened and became shorter.

She watched him clear away some snow and look at his reflection in the ice while her brows furrowed in both concern and confusion. “Are you alright? What... was that?”

"I donno... I think it has something to do with the chain my dad gave me..."

Alec stood up again, dusting his knees off after the winded feeling passed. The symbiote churned and moved while it turned itself into another outfit. Alec was wearing a hooded black jacket now, the inside lined with red. He was wearing a wife beater underneath, with jeans. His fingerless mesh gloves and black mesh boots were still on his feet.

After a flash of light energy his Angel Sword - which appeared different as well, since the weapon always seemed to change and grow along with him - appeared on his back with a sort of invisible sheath. The weapon often appeared this way when he was younger, especially when he was stressed or in trouble, since it was always with him. Alec didn't remember how he got it or why it always followed him around. it had always been with him for as long as he could remember, and Darkman told him that it had fallen out of the sky with him when he was a child. He didn't think about the hows and the whys too much...

"Oh well then... About time for a reboot... I was meaning to shed the ninja look anyway. Too many shitty memories of that other world. I wonder how Avery and the rest are gonna take this..."

Seraphina stood up when her brother did, looking to the sword on his back curiously but keeping her hands to herself: she knew far too many things in this world were 'protected' against such things, so keeping her hands to herself was the best idea. ”Oh...”

She watched him for a moment, noticing that he seemed to be alright despite the appearance change – which seemed to also be for his clothing too.

At his comment about Avery and everyone else she smiled and giggled; her happy bubbly self returning. ”I think Avery would love you no matter what you look like. I can tell, I can feel it when I'm near her. It's quite weird... I pick up on everything like that. I thought Makkura was going to be pretty scary at first; given it's all dark and stuff. But, everyone is so happy there...”

Seraphina said she could feel the love from Avery when she was near her. Alec didn't know how to take that, or how she was able to feel emotions from other people. Makkura; Alec started out having to kill drunks and some of the rabble that hung around, but everyone else, he took care of as if they were his whole family, despite the nasty rap they'd built in that other world. Everything he did wasn't without a reason though.

How were the kids going to take him looking pretty much like a kid again himself? Maybe it was a spell his father put on this chain. Maybe he'd never really know. Silver eyes look over to the hole he'd made in the ice to catch fish, but suddenly he felt like moving on.

"Should we keep on moving? There's still the rest of this tundra, plains and a desert... Or we could just call it quits here and head home. We've been out here a while, the others are probably thinking something happened to us..."

Seraphina tilted her head, thinking about Alec's question for a moment. She liked being out in the wilderness and living off of the land, but she also knew that Alec's words were true: they had been out her for an awfully long time. In fact, she was quite surprised that no one had come looking for them yet – but perhaps that was simply because they knew that Alec knew how to defend himself.

In the end Seraphina smiled and shrugged her shoulders lightly. ”Perhaps it's best we head home. No point in worrying everyone. If anything we could always continue our little adventure at a later time.” Seraphina paused suddenly, her head tilting again, only this time as if she were listening to something far off in the distance. A look akin to day dreaming came upon her facial features for a moment before it cleared. ”Something tells me things are going to get interesting again anyway; and by interesting I mean incredibly action-packed, and likely dangerous.”

She frowned slightly, focusing back on Alec. ”I don't know how exactly I know this, either.. it's strange. But it's like a feeling in my gut, a hunch maybe, and something in me is telling me not to ignore it.”

A wind blew, whipping his coat off to one side. There was a sharp chill in the air, but it didn't really bother him. Wandering wound out here in lands created by someone's imagination was cool while it lasted, but he'd already spent a long time running through the streets and buildings of a zombie infested city. Jr was probably having a baby by now knowing that he'd been wandering around without a care in the world while he was probably constantly in the office of the tower.

When Seraphina looked off into space, Alec himself couldn't help but to feel like something else was coming as well - another episode. He didn't know what was in store, it was too early to tell. It was probably a good thing that they'd decided to call it quits right here and head home. Alec wanted to be on the front lines for whatever was coming.

"Action packed, huh... sounds like fun. Let's go get front row seats, popcorn is on me..."

Putting an arm around his sister, Alec's wings engaged. They were invisible, probably because of the chain his father gave him, but the outline of the wings could be seen through the snow. He blasted off with her, headed back towards the large, seemingly endless jungle of city on the horizon...
